Position Summary

Freyssinet, Inc. is seeking Laborers with an ironworker background to support our Maryland Statewide Preservation Contract. This position will perform work on multiple bridge and infrastructure preservation projects throughout Maryland, primarily in Central and Western Maryland.

The ideal candidate will have experience in ironwork, structural steel, bridge maintenance, or heavy civil construction. This role will assist with welding preparation, steel installation, beam-end retrofits, and other structural repair activities while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist welders with welding preparation and steel fabrication activities
  • Support steel installation and structural repair work on bridges and transportation infrastructure
  • Perform beam-end retrofit and preservation work in accordance with project requirements
  • Install, position, and secure steel components
  • Assist with rebar installation and other reinforcement activities as needed
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely
  • Perform material handling, site preparation, and general construction support tasks
  • Follow project plans, work instructions, and company safety procedures
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
  • Travel to project sites throughout Maryland as required
Qualifications
  • Ironworker, structural steel, bridge maintenance, or related construction experience preferred
  • Experience assisting with welding, steel erection, structural repairs, or rehabilitation projects preferred
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
  • Strong attention to safety, quality, and teamwork
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
  • OSHA 10 certification is a plus
Work Schedule
  • Primarily day shift: MondayFriday, 7:00 AM 3:30 PM
  • Occasional night shift work may be required based on project schedules
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required as needed
Compensation
  • Typical base hourly rate is approximately $26.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • This position is performed under the Maryland Statewide Preservation Contract and is subject to prevailing wage requirements.
  • Employees will be compensated according to the applicable prevailing wage rates for the county and trade classification in which the work is performed. As a result, total hourly earnings may be significantly higher than the standard base rate depending on project location.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical labour throughout the workday
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Comfortable working at heights and around active construction operations
