Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant for a short-term contract opportunity. This role will support the accounting and finance team by analyzing product costs, maintaining cost accounting records, assisting with inventory analysis, and providing financial reporting to support business operations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, manufacturing accounting experience, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and maintain standard costs, product costs, and inventory valuations.
  • Reconcile inventory accounts and investigate variances.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare cost analysis reports and financial summaries for management.
  • Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, labor, and overhead expenses.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting efforts related to cost accounting.
  • Review inventory transactions and ensure accuracy of costing data.
  • Collaborate with operations and production teams to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with company accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of inventory accounting and standard costing.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with financial reporting and account reconciliations.
