  • Combine ingenuity, in-depth research, and a spirit of collaboration with design and engineering excellence
  • Advance in-vehicle infotainment, safety, efficiency, and enjoyment

About the Role
In this position, you will establish the outside-in market view that guides Software Products' portfolio, roadmap. The role exists to replace fragmented inputs and assumption-driven planning with a repeatable market intelligence capability that brings customer priorities, competitor moves, ecosystem shifts, and category economics into one decision-ready view.
You will own the market requirements and intelligence backbone for the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) Suite and broader software portfolio by translating market sizing, unmet needs, OEM buying priorities, pricing signals, and partnership opportunities into clear recommendations for where HARMAN should play, how it should differentiate, and what should change in the portfolio.
You will work across Product Management, Strategy, Customer Success, outbound product management, and Revenue teams. This is a decision-shaping role: it sharpens portfolio priorities, strengthens pursuit quality and reduces the risk of building or selling against an outdated market view.
What You Will Do
  • Build and refresh the outside-in market view for Software Products, covering OEM priorities, software-defined vehicle trends, competitor activity, and ecosystem shifts.
  • Conduct market sizing, value-pool, and scenario analyses to define where HARMAN Software Products should play and how the portfolio should evolve:
    • Recommend where Software Products Business Unit should invest, partner, sustain, or avoid based on market attractiveness, right-to-win, and ecosystem dynamics.
    • Inform pricing, packaging, and monetization strategies through benchmark analysis and value-based commercial inputs.
  • Produce competitive intelligence on traditional Tier 1s, software platform players, startups, and adjacent ecosystem participants, with clear implications for differentiation and roadmap response.
  • Produce customer intelligence on target OEMs, buying centers, decision-makers, public signals, and field feedback, and convert it into actionable account and portfolio insights
  • Support outbound product mgmt. and go-to-market teams with competitor-specific positioning, segment priorities, proof points, and pursuit framing that improve win quality and commercial credibility

What you will need
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in market intelligence, strategy, product management, product marketing, consulting, program management, or a related role in automotive software, connected vehicle, and digital mobility.
  • Understanding of the automotive software landscape, including SDV, Over the Air (OTA), cloud and edge platforms, vehicle software stacks, and the evolving OEM, Tier 1, and technology ecosystem.
  • Analytical capability with experience in market sizing, competitor assessment, segmentation, customer prioritization, and translating data into strategic decisions.
  • Proven ability to turn ambiguous inputs into clear recommendations on portfolio direction, roadmap priorities, go-to-market focus, pricing, and investment choices.
  • Experience synthesizing customer voice from interviews, field teams, public signals, analyst research, and account feedback into actionable insights.
  • Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to produce crisp narratives, high-quality readouts, and fact-based recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Ability to influence across Product Management, Engineering, Strategy, Sales, Pre-sales, and Finance without direct authority in a complex global organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

What Makes You Eligible
  • Be willing to travel up to 10%, domestic and international travel
  • Be willing to work a minimum of 3 days per week in a hybrid office environment in our Novi, MI location
