ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Pumpkin Fest is an annual event hosted by the Huntley College of Agriculture at CPP Kellogg Ranch. This festival supports education by providing experiential learning opportunities as well as fundraising. The festival seeks to engage the community and provide entertaining and educational experiences in an agricultural setting This position will assist with the planning and coordination of our Festival activities.
This is a seasonal event and positions are temporary from approximately September 1 through November 6.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
• Work with Kellogg Ranch (AgriScapes) leadership to develop an effective program of Agricultural Arts Exhibitors and Demonstrators.
• Facilitate communications between the Kellogg Ranch leadership and exhibitors
• Develop and manage work schedules for student employees and volunteers to ensure adequate coverage for the department exhibits.
• Supervise, support, and provide guidance to student employees and volunteers during the festival.
• Manage inventory and supplies needed for visitor participation in demonstrations
• Liaise with visitors to ensure guest experiences meet expectations and any issues are resolved.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for student staff, addressing any issues promptly and escalating when needed.
• Ensure compliance with CPP Foundation policies and regulations.
• Provide leadership for the exhibitor move-in and haul-out.
• Ability to adhere to a regular work schedule (weekends and evenings may be required)
• Will perform other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Good communications skills to work as a liaison between the Kellogg Ranch leadership and exhibitors
• Ability to develop and manage work schedules for student employees and volunteers to ensure adequate coverage for the department exhibits.
• Ability to supervise employees.
• Ability to communicate with visitors to ensure guest experiences meet expectations and any issues are resolved.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Previous experience working at Cal Poly Pomona, CPP Enterprises, or ASI
• Familiar with the policies and procedures of Cal Poly Pomona and the CPP Foundation Enterprise.
• Background in working at festivals/county fairs or community outreach programs
• Experience working with the Huntley College of Agriculture
• 5+ years working in Education or Agriculture Advocacy
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
The Foundation also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Foundation administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Foundation contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
