Our client in Burbank, CA is looking for an experienced Senior Editor / Writer to create, edit and publish timely, useful and engaging content. This is a hands-on role for a strong digital editor who also writes regularly and is comfortable working at the pace of entertainment news and streaming culture.
 
  • Must submit writing samples- should include clips / URLS to their writing.
  • Hours:  8-4 or 9-5 team starts earlier open to discuss
 
Responsibilities:
  • Write and publish approximately one original article per day, depending on assignment complexity and other editorial responsibilities
  • Edit copy from other writers for accuracy, clarity, structure, voice and audience relevance
  • Edit and publish content in Google Docs and WordPress
  • Partner with editorial, marketing, publicity, programming, SEO and other stakeholders to review content, incorporate feedback and secure approvals
  • Produce fast-turnaround stories tied to premieres, finales, schedules, casting, franchise news and other timely programming moments
  • Write evergreen and discovery content, including what-to-watch guides, recommendation lists, explainers and franchise guides
  • Update existing articles to keep information current, accurate and useful
  • Develop strong headlines, subheads and article structures for readers and search
  • Apply SEO best practices, including search intent, keyword targeting, internal linking and content structure
  • Ensure content adheres to editorial standards, style guidelines and brand requirements
  • Fact-check stories and verify information using authoritative sources
  • Manage multiple assignments and updates while meeting tight deadlines and shifting priorities
  • Identify opportunities for new stories, evergreen coverage and timely updates based on programming priorities, audience interest and search behavior
 
TOP Critical Skills or Must Haves:
  • Significant professional experience as a digital editor, writer or journalist, ideally covering entertainment, television, streaming, movies or pop culture
  • Excellent writing, editing, copy editing and headline-writing skills
  • Strong editorial judgment and the ability to quickly identify the most useful or compelling angle
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clean, engaging and accurate copy on tight deadlines
  • Experience editing other writers and providing clear, actionable feedback
  • Strong knowledge of television, movies, streaming platforms and pop culture
  • Working knowledge of SEO and how search intent should inform editorial decisions
  • Experience with WordPress or a comparable CMS
  • Fluency with Google Docs and collaborative editorial workflows
  • Fluency and comfort with AI-assisted tools
  • Strong research and fact-checking skills
  • Ability to navigate stakeholder feedback and approval processes while keeping work moving
  • Highly organized and comfortable managing several priorities at once
 
Additional Info:
  • The team would like to see candidates who have published in a digital environment not just social. They need to be passionate about the role. Candidates who have a news coverage mentality work out well. They are looking for journalists.
  • The ideal candidate has excellent editorial judgment, strong writing and editing skills and deep knowledge of television, movies, streaming and pop culture. They can move quickly between breaking or fast-turnaround stories, evergreen content, copy editing, article updates and stakeholder approvals while maintaining accuracy, voice and SEO best practices.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience at a major entertainment publication, newsroom or high-volume digital editorial operation
  • Experience writing recommendation, service or search-driven evergreen content
  • Familiarity with audience insights, search trends and content-performance data
  • Familiarity with Paramount programming and franchises
