Contract Frontend Developer information

What is a contract frontend developer?

Contract Frontend Developers are professionals hired on a temporary or project basis to build and maintain the user-facing parts of websites and web applications. They specialize in technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and often work with frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js. Unlike full-time employees, contract frontend developers typically work for a set duration or until the completion of specific tasks. Their flexible arrangement allows companies to scale development efforts according to project needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a contract frontend developer?

To thrive as a Contract Frontend Developer, you need strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a solid understanding of modern frontend frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular, often supported by a relevant degree or bootcamp experience. Familiarity with version control systems (such as Git), build tools (Webpack, npm), and responsive design practices is typically required. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and time management skills help you adapt quickly and collaborate effectively with remote teams or multiple clients. These skills ensure timely, high-quality project delivery and seamless integration into diverse development environments.

What are some common challenges contract frontend developers face when joining new projects, and how can they adapt quickly?

Contract Frontend Developers often need to ramp up rapidly with unfamiliar codebases and team workflows. Adapting quickly involves proactive communication with team members, thorough review of project documentation, and leveraging onboarding resources provided. Familiarity with popular frameworks and version control systems helps, but flexibility and a willingness to ask clarifying questions are key. Building rapport with the team and participating in code reviews can also accelerate the adaptation process.

What is the difference between Contract Frontend Developer vs Contract Web Developer?

With deep expertise across leading platforms like Adobe, Microsoft, Sitecore, and Optimizely, we unite strategy, human-centered design, engineering and AI inside core enterprise systems, so experiences don’t just look better, they perform better, drive adoption and turn advanced technology into measurable business outcomes at scale.

***Please note- This opportunity is not open to any agencies or those candidates that require any form of work authorization.***

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an Enterprise Cloud & AI Software Engineer to build and scale enterprise-grade cloud solutions across the Microsoft ecosystem for Genpact Experience. This is a full-stack engineering role centered on Azure and the .NET/C# stack as a foundation, extending into the middleware, API, and integration layer that connects modern front-end experiences such as Next.js and React web apps, or native mobile applications.

You’ll design and build integrations across a broad enterprise landscape: CMS/DXP platforms, Salesforce, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Graph, alongside SQL and document databases and Microsoft Fabric for data and analytics. On the AI side, you’ll bring Microsoft Copilot Studio, Microsoft Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Azure Cognitive Search, and Azure Machine Learning into production solutions building agentic and generative AI capabilities directly into the platforms our clients rely on every day.

If you’re a builder who’s equally comfortable architecting a resilient Azure backend, wiring up an integration layer across a dozen enterprise systems, and shipping practical AI features that make a real difference for end users, this is your role.

What You’ll Do:

•          Design, build, and operate cloud-based solutions on Microsoft Azure using .NET/C# as the primary foundation, applying sound architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.

•          Build and maintain the middleware, API, and integration layer connecting backend services to modern front-ends (Next.js, React) and native mobile applications.

•          Integrate enterprise backend systems including CMS/DXP platforms, Salesforce, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Graph, ensuring secure, reliable data flow across the ecosystem.

•          Work with SQL and document databases (Cosmos DB and similar) and Microsoft Fabric to design data models and pipelines that support both application and analytics needs.

•          Design and implement AI-powered features and agentic experiences using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Microsoft Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Azure Cognitive Search, and Azure Machine Learning.

•          Architect solutions for performance, security, and scale applying sound patterns for authentication/authorization, caching, messaging, and resilient service-to-service communication.

•          Own CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions, driving automated build, test, and deployment across environments.

•          Use AI-driven development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Codex) to accelerate delivery, prototype faster, and raise the bar on code quality across the team.

•          Partner with front-end and mobile engineers to define clean API contracts and shared data models that keep client and server in sync as products evolve.

•          Serve as a technical lead on client engagements, translating business requirements into pragmatic architecture and mentoring developers through code reviews and hands-on guidance.

•          Collaborate with architects across the Experience practice (DXP, Modern Workplace) to ensure backend and integration decisions align with the broader platform strategy.

•          Contribute to Genpact Experience’s engineering practice through reusable accelerators, internal tooling, and documentation that raise delivery quality across engagements.

What we’d like to see:

•          8+ years of professional software development experience, with deep expertise in .NET/C# and Microsoft Azure as a foundation.

•          Proven experience designing and building middleware, APIs, and integration layers connecting backend systems to modern front-end and mobile applications.

•          Hands-on experience integrating enterprise platforms such as CMS/DXP systems, Salesforce, SharePoint/M365, or Microsoft Graph.

•          Experience working with relational (SQL Server) and document/NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB or similar), and familiarity with Microsoft Fabric for data and analytics.

•          Practical experience building AI-powered features using Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Azure Cognitive Search, Azure Machine Learning, or Microsoft Copilot Studio/Foundry.

•          Solid understanding of cloud architecture patterns: microservices, event-driven design, caching, messaging, and secure API design.

•          Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.

•          Comfort using AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Codex) as part of the daily engineering workflow.

•          Strong communication skills, with the ability to work directly with clients and cross-functional teams and to mentor other developers.

•          Prior experience in consulting, agency, or multi-client delivery environments is a plus.

The Impact You’ll Make:

At Genpact Experience, we leverage design and product thinking to solve our clients’ most complex challenges using the best tools available. When you join us, you’ll work across a broad variety of exciting industries including financial services, healthcare, legal, and retail. You won’t just wire up an integration; you’ll build the cloud and AI backbone that lets millions of users interact seamlessly with the platforms our clients depend on.

We’re also passionate about giving back through open-source contributions, hosting community events, speaking at conferences, and pushing the craft of cloud and AI engineering forward.

What sets you apart:

•          Microsoft certifications (Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure AI Engineer Associate, Power Platform, or similar).

•          Experience with Next.js/React front-end development or native mobile development (iOS, Android, React Native), enabling full-stack collaboration.

•          Familiarity with agentic AI patterns and multi-agent orchestration frameworks (Semantic Kernel, LangChain, or similar).

•          Experience with headless CMS/DXP platforms (Optimizely, Sitecore, Adobe) and how they fit into a broader enterprise integration strategy.

•          Background designing solutions across hybrid on-prem/cloud environments, particularly involving M365 and SharePoint migrations.

•          Track record of building internal accelerators, frameworks, or reusable components that scale across client engagements.

•          Experience in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, legal) with attention to security and compliance requirements.

Our Technical Stack:

Azure · .NET · C# · Next.js · React · TypeScript · REST · GraphQL · Salesforce · SharePoint · Microsoft 365 · Microsoft Graph · SQL Server · Cosmos DB · Microsoft Fabric · Microsoft Copilot Studio · Microsoft Foundry · Azure OpenAI · Azure AI Search · Azure Cognitive Search · Azure Machine Learning · Azure DevOps · GitHub Actions · GitHub Copilot
