Job Posting Title:Performing Arts Specialist - PercussionJob Description:An Activity Sponsor is responsible for supervising and supporting a specific extracurricular club, organization, or activity. This role involves mentoring students, overseeing club activities, and ensuring that all events and meetings are conducted in a safe and organized manner. The Activity Sponsor works closely with students, faculty, and administration to promote student engagement and development.
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
- Education or advanced training with relevance to to the club/activity strongly desired
ESSENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
Depending on the activity and school setting, there may be:
- Mild to moderate or louder noise
- Potential exposure to weather conditions, variable temperatures

Wind Instructor (Lead):
-Teach and coordinate the Winds through their musical development/performance
-Work with the Band Director and Visual staff to facilitate the success of the wind section as a whole
-Assist with facilitating Wind Auditions, held on the following dates:
- April 21 3:30-5:30 PM (Visual only, optional)
- April 22 3:30-5:30 PM (Visual only, optional)
- April 23 3:30-5:30 PM (Music)
-Rehearse Wind students in 3 weeks of band camp (dates below)
- Week 1: June 8-June 12 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (Music 1:00-5:00 PM)
- Week 2: July 6-July 10 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (Music 1:00-5:00 PM)
- Week 3: August 3-August 7 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (Music 1:00-5:00 PM)
-Rehearse the winds for Regular Season Marching Rehearsals beginning August 10 and ending October 22. Rehearsals will be on the following days/times:
- Mondays: 3:30-5:30 PM (Visual focus, attendance optional)
- Tuesdays: 3:30-5:30 PM (Music focus)
- Thursdays: 3:30-6:30 PM (Full Ensemble)
-Assist in the recruitment and team-building of current and future wind sections
-Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Responsibilities:

Attend and teach weekly Spring Marching Percussion sections from March - May

Attend all performances to include home football games (4-6), competitions (7), festivals (3), parades (2)

Prepare percussion chamber ensembles for the Spring Concerts, Concert Festivals and Solo & Ensemble events

Help in the design and planning of the Marching Field Show

Write music and arrangements when necessary for the Front Ensemble and Drum Line

Rehearse percussion students in 3-week Marching Camp (July)

Work closely and collaboratively with the Band Parent Organization to transport all percussion equipment to and from each event

Assist in the recruitment and team-building of current and future percussion sections

Tasked with the regular cleaning, maintenance and minor repairs of all Percussion Equipment

Run the Electronic Sound System and PA and program sampled sounds into computer to complement and enhance the Front Ensemble

Work closely with our Sound-Scaping technician to optimize the full sound of the percussion

Rehearse percussion students in:
---August - December  Monday, Tuesday, Thursday after school 3pm - 6pm (approx. 48)

---Saturdays 8am - 4:30pm (7)

Attend weekly rehearsals during the day to rehearse the Symphonic and Wind Ensemble Percussion classes during the 1st and 2nd semesters

Specialized music instruction of Marching Percussion and Concert Band(s)

Teach and coordinate both the Front Ensemble and Drum Line

Certifications:Education:High School or EquivalentSkills:Experience teaching on the High School, University, Drum Corps level and/or Professional Music experience, Verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions. Strong organizational and time management skills.
