Position Title:ย Epidemiologist 1
Duration:ย 12/15/2025 โ€“ 06/30/2026 (Renewable through 2029, pending funding)
Location:ย Hybrid | 710 James Robertson Parkway, 7th Floor, Andrew Johnson Tower, Nashville, TN 37243
Overview

Theย Clientย is seeking anย Epidemiologist 1ย to support two key initiatives:

  • Tobacco Use Prevention and Control Program (TUPCP)

  • Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant (PHHSBG)

Both programs are part of theย Division of Family Health and Wellness, under theย Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotionย section.

The selected candidate will provideย epidemiologic expertiseย for program planning, data analysis, reporting, and evaluation. The goal is to strengthen evidence-based public health interventions and improve outcomes across Tennessee.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide epidemiologic and analytic support for theย TUPCPย andย PHHSBGย programs.

  • Analyze and interpret surveillance and program data to identify trends, disparities, and performance metrics.

  • Conduct descriptive epidemiologic analyses and prepare clear, data-driven reports.

  • Createย data visualizationsย and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences (program staff, leadership, and community partners).

  • Manage and maintainย REDCapย databases; assist with system updates and new project development.

  • Clean, manipulate, and analyze large datasets usingย SAS.

  • Collaborate with program directors and communications teams to develop infographics and public-facing data materials.

  • Ensure compliance withย grant reporting requirementsย andย data release guidelines.

  • Support continuous quality improvement and innovation in data use and program evaluation.


Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Proficiency inย analytical methods and statistical software;ย SASย strongly preferred.

  • Strong skills inย data visualization;ย Tableauย experience highly preferred.

  • Proficiency inย Microsoft Office Suiteย (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Experience managingย databases;ย REDCapย experience strongly preferred.

  • Excellentย technical writingย and communication skills.

  • Prior experience supporting or evaluatingย public health programsย is strongly preferred.


Education & Experience
  • Masterโ€™s degree inย Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, Statistics, or Health Informaticsย (preferred).

  • OR a Masterโ€™s degree in aย Health Science, Biomedical Science, or Environmental Scienceย field withย 2+ yearsย of epidemiology experience.


Work Schedule & Logistics
  • Schedule:ย Monday โ€“ Friday, 8:00 AM โ€“ 4:30 PM CST (37.5 hours/week)

  • Work Type:ย Hybrid

    • In-person attendance requiredย on the first day for laptop deployment and onboarding in Nashville, TN.

    • Quarterly in-person meetings required; other on-site meetings may occur as needed.

    • Travel to Nashville isย not reimbursed, but travel for approvedย site visitsย may be reimbursed.
