Description
The Epidemiologist supports Public Health operations by integrating, analyzing, and interpreting data from multiple surveillance, clinical, and operational health systems to improve public health decision-making, biosurveillance, and mission readiness across the Air Force. The role combines epidemiology, biostatistics, public health research, data analytics, and knowledge management to provide actionable intelligence for military leaders and public health professionals.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or higher in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of epidemiology, biostatistics, and public health principles.
  • Experience with health surveillance systems, electronic medical records, and laboratory data systems, including AFDRSi, ESSENCE, AHLTA, MHS Genesis, DOEHRS, and related platforms.
  • Proficiency with SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide, Microsoft Office, and familiarity with R and/or STATA.
  • Advanced analytical and statistical skills, including study design, modeling, measures of association, and statistical significance testing.
  • Experience developing research protocols and submitting studies for Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain HIPAA, STINFO, and CITI training requirements.
