• TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:  2026-2027 School Year and thereafter; 200 Days (10 Additional Days if needed); 7:30-3:30 or as determined by Principal.

• QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Meet minimum standards for certification as set forth by the West Virginia State Board of Education in minimum standards for the licensure of West Virginia School Personnel for the subject and grade level assigned.
  • Good evaluations and/or recommendations from professional associates, employers, and/or supervisors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel, and parents, community partners, and an ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to motivate students and get them excited about learning.
  • Applicants who have unsatisfactory evaluations in the past year will not be considered eligible for consideration; applicants who demonstrate unsatisfactory interview performance are not eligible for consideration; and applicants who receive unfavorable reference recommendations will not be eligible for consideration. Additional minimum requirements for applicants not currently employed: applicants who have been dismissed or who have had their contracts non-renewed for cause by another school district are not eligible for consideration; the ability to perform the job duties and responsibilities of the position as contained in the job description, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Holds or is eligible for a valid West Virginia Professional Teaching Certificate with appropriate WV Certification in Family & Consumer Science 7-12.
  • Possesses effective classroom management, communication, and instructional skills.

Enhanced Family and Consumer Sciences Responsibilities

• Develop and implement coursework in food preparation, nutrition, wellness, parenting, family studies, consumer sciences, and career development.
• Provide instruction in Parenting and Strong Families courses in accordance with West Virginia requirements and student enrollment opportunities.
• Collaborate with Career and Technical Education (CTE) instructors to support career pathways and workforce readiness.
• Serve as advisor and/or teacher leader for Educators Rising and other student leadership organizations.
• Support Grow Your Own educator initiatives in collaboration State Board of Education/Eastern Community College.
• Provide instruction and course work through CTE to produce Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher (ECCAT) certification for students.
• Collaborate with local businesses, colleges, agencies, and community organizations to provide extended learning opportunities.
• Integrate WV College and Career Readiness Standards, employability skills, financial literacy, leadership development, and career exploration into instruction.

Measurable Outcomes Aligned to WVCCR Standards

• Students demonstrate growth in communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through projects and performance tasks.
• Students demonstrate proficiency in food safety, nutrition, and culinary skills through performance-based assessments.
• Students demonstrate understanding of healthy relationships, child development, and family dynamics through course assessments.
• Student participation in Educators Rising activities supports awareness of careers in education.
• Students develop individualized post-secondary and career goals.
• Community partnership and extended-learning opportunities are established and maintained annually.
• Program data are reviewed annually for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with the CTE director to ensure compliance and progress.

Program Leadership Expectations

• Maintain an active Educators Rising chapter and provide opportunities for students to participate in leadership development, community service, competitions, and career exploration activities.
• Support district Grow Your Own educator initiatives by recruiting, mentoring, and preparing students interested in careers in education.
• Collaborate with CTE instructors and school leadership to increase student participation in career pathways, industry-recognized credentials, and workforce readiness opportunities.
• Support district efforts to improve college, career, and community readiness outcomes for all students.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with West Virginia Board of Education policies and Pendleton County Schools procedures governing professional personnel evaluations.
