Title: Controls Engineer
 
Location: Dallas–Fort Worth, TX

We are looking for a Controls Engineer to support a semi-automatic Surgical Tool Brazing Machine used in medical device manufacturing. The equipment performs automated assembly of surgical tool stems and heads through brazing, followed by cleaning, finishing, inspection, and quality checks. The system includes robotics, vision systems, servo controls, induction heating, and in-line quality monitoring.

The machine is currently down due to multiple software and minor mechanical issues, with most problems related to software. The selected candidate will focus on debugging, troubleshooting, and rewriting core control software to restore and stabilize production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex control system and software issues
  • Rewrite and optimize existing machine control code
  • Support system recovery and stabilization of production equipment
  • Work with existing automation architecture and improve performance
  • Integrate and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
  • Support recipe-based manufacturing and automated QC systems
  • Ensure compliance with medical device manufacturing standards

Required Skills:

  • Strong experience with Allen Bradley PLCs
  • Experience with Ignition SCADA platform
  • Ability to understand and work with existing control system architecture
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in automation systems
  • Experience in rewriting or upgrading machine control software
  • Experience in automated manufacturing environments (medical device preferred)
  • Ability to independently resolve complex system issues
