Job description

Job Title: Design Controls Engineer

Job Description

This position is responsible for designing controls products while providing top-tier customer service for both internal and external customers. The role primarily focuses on Siemens products, but also involves working with Niagara, Open+, and other systems. The ideal candidate will use their knowledge of HVAC systems, control devices, computer operations, electronics, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, direct digital controls, airflow, hydronic systems, IT networking, analytics, and building controls technologies. This role emphasizes construction and creating accurate and timely designs for customers in the market.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop controls products for various projects.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure timely and accurate project delivery.
  • Utilize expertise in HVAC systems and related technologies for effective design solutions.
  • Engage in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Work with a variety of control systems including Siemens, Niagara, and Open+.
  • Participate in construction projects focusing on controls design.

Essential Skills

  • 4+ years experience using AutoCAD, Visio, Bluebeam, and similar software.
  • 4+ years experience with HVAC systems including control devices, computer operations, electronics, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in direct digital controls, airflow, hydronic systems, IT networking, analytics, and building controls technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to obtain OSHA safety training and manage safety policies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in building automation and controls.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance and systems.
  • Experience in controls engineering and troubleshooting.

Work Environment

This role requires occasional travel to environments with elevated noise levels or potentially hazardous conditions where personal protective equipment is necessary. Local travel to customer sites may be needed to perform job duties, along with periodic overnight travel for visits to distant customer locations. Manufacturer training trips, typically lasting 2 to 5 days, may also be required. The work environment supports professional growth with access to leadership and opportunities for advancement and mentorship.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $110000.00/hr.
