Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Phoenix, AZ that is seeking a Senior Automation Controls Engineer for a hybrid role. This role will support advanced manufacturing systems. We are working directly with the Hiring Manager on this exclusive search assignment. Summary:
This role focuses on the design, development, commissioning, and support of automated manufacturing equipment. The Engineer will work across electrical design, PLC/HMI software development, system integration, startup, and ongoing optimization, collaborating closely with internal teams, vendors, and maintenance.
Responsibilities:
* Design and support electrical and controls systems (PLCs, drives, HMIs, power, instrumentation, motor controls)
* Develop and deploy custom Allen Bradley PLC logic and HMI integrations
* Partner with process engineers to improve and optimize existing equipment
* Support equipment specification, build, commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting
* Work with vendors on new equipment and system modifications
* Create and maintain electrical and software documentation
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or related discipline or equivalent work experience
* At least 5+ years of automation engineering experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
* At least 3+ years PLC programming experience (ladder logic, HMI integration)
* Experience with PLC programming/development from scratch (Allen Bradley is preferred but will consider Wonderware and Schneider as well or others)
* Experience with industrial drives, controls, and machine safety standards
* Working knowledge of NEC requirements is preferred.
* Ability to manage multiple technical priorities and projects.
* Ability to read schematics.
* Up to 10% travel
* Experience out of Highly Regulated Industries such as Aerospace, Defense/Military, Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Automotive, semiconductor industries would be a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
* Allen Bradley drives, temperature controllers, and robotics experience
* Hands-on electrical design for manufacturing equipment
* ECAD experience (AutoCAD Electrical preferred or similar Electrical CAD package)
* Working knowledge of electrical code and standards for industrial equipment design
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
