Certification

  • New York State (NYS) Teaching Certification preferred

Compensation

  • $165.00 per school day for certified teachers
  • $160.00 per school day for non-certified teachers
  • Minimum commitment of 4 days per week for the 2026-2027 school year

Primary Responsibility

Substitute teachers play an essential role in supporting student academic success. At West Irondequoit, substitutes provide high-quality instruction and social-emotional support in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

Job Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective problem-solving skills to address day-to-day classroom challenges
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand and follow district policies and procedures
  • Adherence to the West Irondequoit Central School District Code of Conduct
  • Fingerprint clearance from the New York State Education Department
