Summary of Job Duties:Collaborating closely with Dr. Richardson and students in our group, the Research Scientist - Chemical Engineering will help develop and apply in vitro models of cardiac remodeling for novel therapy screens. In addition, the position will support day-to-day lab management procedures, mentor undergraduate student researchers, train undergraduate and graduate students in lab procedures, and will also be expected to present research findings through publications and conference presentations.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relations with others.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or Biomedical Engineering from an accredited institution of higher education, conferred by the start of employment

  • Experience in cell/tissue culture

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated excellence in previous research, supported by scientific publications

  • Experience with stem cells and 3-dimensional tissue cultures

  • Experience with multiplexed assays for high-throughput protein measurements

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Ability to travel

  • Excellent communication skills


Additional Information:

The Cardiac Systems Engineering Lab, led by Dr. Will Richardson, is seeking a research scientist to join our team's exciting efforts related to cardiac tissue remodeling and personalized medicine. Our group is building experimental tissue culture bioreactors in order to better understand the complex bio-chemo-mechano-systems that regulate heart tissue structure. By combining in vitro screening tools with computational modeling and data science, our mission is to engineer personalized medicine approaches for combatting cardiac disease.

This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.
