Contract Change Management information

What is contract change management?

A Contract Change Management job involves overseeing and implementing changes to existing contracts to ensure compliance, minimize risks, and maintain alignment with business objectives. Professionals in this role assess proposed modifications, negotiate terms, and collaborate with stakeholders such as legal teams, suppliers, and project managers. They also document changes, track approvals, and monitor the impact of contract adjustments. Effective contract change management ensures smooth transitions, mitigates disputes, and supports operational efficiency.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in contract change management, and why are they important?

To thrive in Contract Change Management, you need strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of contract law and project management principles, often supported by a bachelor's degree and relevant experience. Familiarity with contract management software, ERP systems, and certifications such as Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) is highly valuable. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills help build consensus and ensure smooth implementation of changes. These competencies are critical for effectively controlling project scope, mitigating risks, and ensuring contractual compliance throughout the contract lifecycle.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in contract change management roles?

Professionals in Contract Change Management often encounter complexities such as aligning multiple stakeholders with conflicting priorities, navigating ambiguous contract clauses, and managing tight timelines when changes are requested. Effective negotiation and clear documentation are crucial to resolving disputes and minimizing any impact on project delivery. Collaboration is frequent with legal, procurement, project management, and operations teams to ensure all contractual changes are compliant and feasible. By proactively addressing these challenges, you can help reduce risk, improve project outcomes, and build strong working relationships across your organization.

Job description

Description

A large client of ours is seeking an experienced change management and communications professional to provide temporary support for complex, high-visibility health IT initiatives. This role will work independently with project leaders, operational stakeholders, technical teams, and Customer Experience leadership to develop and execute change and communication strategies that support successful adoption of technology and process changes.

The ideal candidate can quickly step into complex initiatives, provide strategic counsel, build relationships with stakeholders, and independently lead communications and change management work from planning through execution.

Key Responsibilities:

•Lead change management and communication planning for complex technology and operational initiatives.

•Assess stakeholder needs and change impacts and translate them into actionable communication, engagement, and readiness strategies.

•Develop executive, leadership, clinical, and employee communications for high-visibility initiatives.

•Advise project and operational leaders on messaging, stakeholder engagement, communication timing, and change readiness.

•Translate complex technical information into clear, audience-centered communications.

•Establish communication approaches, deliverable plans, governance, and review processes for assigned initiatives.

•Facilitate stakeholder discussions and coordinate across multiple teams and organizational areas.

•Identify communication and adoption risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

•Independently manage multiple workstreams and deliverables while providing visibility into status, risks, and dependencies.

•Provide guidance and quality review for communications or change deliverables developed by other team members when needed.

Examples of Work Assignments may include:

•Leading communications and readiness planning for major EHR, clinical technology, infrastructure, or enterprise IT initiatives.

•Developing communication strategies, stakeholder plans, change impact assessments, readiness plans, and executive messaging.

•Creating communications for complex system implementations, upgrades, outages/downtime, and workflow changes.

•Advising leaders on how and when to communicate changes affecting clinicians, staff, faculty, or other stakeholder groups.

•Developing presentations, talking points, FAQs, toolkits, web content, and leadership materials.

•Coordinating communications across multiple projects or programs and identifying cross-project dependencies.

Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree in communications, organizational change, business, healthcare administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

•Approximately 7+ years of progressive experience in organizational change management, communications, project/program communications, or a related field.

•Demonstrated experience independently leading communications or change management for complex initiatives.

•Exceptional writing and editing skills, including experience developing executive-level communications.

•Strong consulting and stakeholder-management skills with the ability to work effectively with technical, operational, and leadership audiences.

•Ability to quickly understand complex topics, identify implications for stakeholders, and recommend practical approaches.

•Strong project management, prioritization, and facilitation skills.

•Comfortable operating with ambiguity and independently driving work in a remote environment.

Preferred: Healthcare or health IT experience; Epic/EHR experience; experience supporting large-scale technology transformation or enterprise change; formal change management training or certification (e.g., Prosci).
