Position Overview

Under direction, serves as independent examiner in charge of all phases of a real estate brokerage physical or virtual office examination, an auction firm examination, or a community association management firm examination.  Prepares a written comprehensive report of examination, which is submitted for supervisory review and subsequent follow-up with the regulated entity's executive, and/or to the proper administrative or disciplinary manager for disposition. Travels to meet onsite with regulated entity's executive to report findings of the examination and develops recommendations and corrective actions in areas containing significant weaknesses and deficiencies. Independently analyzes data and information to audit special accounts of moneys belonging to others held by the regulated entity.  Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Essential Functions

Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of 4 years of college with coursework in accounting, business, finance or related fields.
  • Requires 3 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, auditing, business, finance or related field.
  • Requires an active license in good standing as a Real Estate Broker, Managing Broker, State Certified Real Estate Appraiser, Auctioneer, and/or Community Association Manager. An applicant, who is currently employed by the State of Illinois and who has surrendered his/her license as a Real Estate Broker, Real Estate, Auctioneer, and/or Community Association Manager to the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation as a condition of employment, also qualifies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefers at least five years of experience as an investigator or auditor.
  • Prefers at least five years of experience as a licensed Real Estate Broker, Managing Broker, State-Certified Real Estate Appraiser, Auctioneer, and/or Community Association Manager.
  • Prefers at least five years of experience reviewing real estate, appraiser, auction, and/or community association management contracts.
  • Prefers at least five years of experience requiring advanced knowledge and skill of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Conditions of Employment
  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties.
  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
  • Revolving Door Statement:
