3D Designer
Work hours: 8-5 PST (Remote)
Duration: Contract through June 2026 (Potential to extend)
Interview Process: 3 rounds (virtual)
Roles & Responsibilities
The responsibilities now emphasize initiative and strategic thinking:
  • Lead with innovation and strategic problem-solving in all design workflows, pushing the boundaries of physical retail experiences.
  • Act as a self-starter with an entrepreneurial approach to lead team projects, while working collaboratively and independently to identify and push for innovative experiential design opportunities.
  • Creation of high-fidelity 3D visualizations and floorplans to communicate design intent for specific projects.
  • Help team evolve Digital Twins in Unreal Engine for virtual visualization.
  • Apply an industrial design lens to all projects, ensuring designs are well thought through for fabrication.
  • Create and manage optimized library assets for real-time applications.
  • Develop design documents and final production-ready artwork, ensuring technical specifications are met.
  • Create client presentations that clearly communicate complex 3D designs and strategies.
  • Review shop drawings from agency and architecture partners for quality assurance.
  • Meet deliverables, timelines, and budgets of various projects in collaboration with the team.
  • Develop original store design and experiential concepts by demonstrating strong critical thinking skills.
  • Stay current on trends and developments in real-time rendering, store design, and branded activations.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Experience designing for retail brands and physical stores or environments including flagship, pop-ups and branded activations.
  • 4+ years experience in 3D design, visualization, and rendering.
  • 2+ years of industry experience working with Unreal Engine.
  • Strong understanding of the 3D production process with skills in level assembly and asset creation tasks including lighting, layout, and modeling.
  • Ability to work well with ambiguity and limited project briefs, taking the initiative to structure and define the necessary scope to lead a project through from concept to installation.
  • Industry experience using 3D software for concept development and asset creation such as 3ds Max, Blender, Maya, and V-Ray.
  • Efficiency using Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, and CAD tools.
  • Strong understanding of Material finishes and innovations for photorealistic rendering.
  • Solid organization skills, adhering to protocols such as file structures, naming conventions, and other established guidelines.
  • Ability to work with a small team, lead design strategy, take direction, and work independently.
  • Comfortable iterating quickly and communicating ideas across different levels of fidelity.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience locating and resolving content and asset performance bottlenecks through investigation and content optimization.
  • Knowledge of UE Blueprints a plus.
  • Experience using Perforce in a team environment a plus.
  • Mentor existing 3D designers and contribute to team skill development.
  • Local to the Greater Seattle area preferred.
