Contents Restoration Processing Technician
Job Summary
The Contents Restoration Processing Technician is responsible for the restoration, cleaning, and handling of personal and business contents affected by fire, water, mold, or other catastrophic events. The role involves detailed inspection, cleaning, deodorization, and packing of items for storage or return to the client. The Processing Technician ensures that all items are restored according to industry standards, using specialized equipment and techniques. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow detailed instructions, and a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Contents Restoration and Cleaning:
    • Assess and categorize contents for cleaning and restoration based on type of damage (e.g., fire, smoke, water, mold) and material type.
    • Clean, deodorize, and sanitize contents using industry-specific cleaning agents, equipment, and techniques, ensuring proper handling of fragile, high-value, or sentimental items.
    • Utilize ultrasonic cleaning systems, HEPA vacuums, ozone chambers, and other specialized equipment for effective restoration.
  2. Inventory and Documentation:
    • Assist with the tagging, photographing, and documenting of items for inventory management, ensuring all items are properly tracked during the cleaning and restoration process.
    • Accurately update inventory records and work orders in the contents management system (e.g., iCat, ContentsTrack).
    • Document items that are determined to be non-restorable and communicate findings to the Contents Restoration Project Manager.
  3. Packing and Organization:
    • Carefully pack items post-cleaning for storage or return, ensuring items are protected from further damage during transport or storage.
    • Organize contents in the warehouse, maintaining cleanliness and ensuring that all items are stored according to company standards.
    • Label and identify items clearly to ensure efficient retrieval and accurate final delivery to the client.
  4. Quality Control and Assurance:
    • Perform final inspections on restored contents to ensure they meet company quality standards.
    • Identify and resolve any issues related to the condition or cleanliness of items prior to repackaging.
    • Maintain a high level of quality and care throughout the restoration process, ensuring client satisfaction.
  5. Client and Stakeholder Interaction:
    • Occasionally assist with on-site content pack-out or pack-back at client locations, providing excellent customer service.
    • Handle sensitive or sentimental items with empathy and care, addressing client concerns professionally and courteously.
    • Assist in the delivery and set-up of restored contents at client properties, ensuring items are placed in accordance with client preferences.
  6. Equipment and Safety Management:
    • Properly maintain and clean restoration equipment, ensuring all machinery and tools are in good working condition.
    • Follow safety protocols when handling chemicals, using equipment, and lifting heavy objects.
    • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in the warehouse and restoration facility.
  7. Support Restoration Team Activities:
    • Assist in the logistics of contents handling, including loading and unloading trucks, transporting contents to designated areas, and setting up or breaking down restoration equipment.
    • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth workflow and efficient project completion.
    • Support special projects or tasks as directed by the Contents Restoration Project Manager.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 1+ years of experience in contents cleaning, restoration, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard cleaning techniques, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.
