About Funatix EventsFunatix Events is a full-service event company based in Bismarck, North Dakota. We handle event management, marketing, sponsorship, ticketing operations, and media for local and statewide events.
Our portfolio includes some of the region's most recognized experiences: Mandan Rodeo Days, North Dakota's longest-running event; the Bismarck Marathon; the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference; and a full summer season at the Bismarck Depot featuring Fiesta Fest, Wiener Fest, Rumble at the Depot, Bismarck Rocks!, the Bismarck Food Truck Festival, and Otto Von Bismarck Fest. Job Summary
The Content Specialist owns the story Funatix tells across social, video, photo, and web. This role builds the content calendar, is on the ground capturing at events, edits and publishes fast, manages our social channels day to day, and grows our owned audiences.
This is a creator role with a strategist's brain. The Content Specialist is not waiting for assignments. They are looking at the event calendar three weeks out, deciding what needs to be shot, and showing up with a plan and a camera.
Key Responsibilities
Content Strategy and Planning
  • Own the content calendar across all Funatix event properties and corporate channels.
  • Build shot lists and content plans ahead of every event, so capture is intentional rather than reactive.
  • Develop content series and recurring formats that build audience between events, not just during them.

Capture
  • Shoot photo and video on site at events, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Capture behind-the-scenes, build day, talent, guest reaction, and sponsor activation content.
  • Run live coverage during event days, including stories, reels, and real-time posting.

Production and Editing
  • Edit short-form vertical video for social with fast turnaround, often same day.
  • Cut recap videos, sponsor recap content, and promotional assets for the following year's campaign.
  • Maintain an organized, searchable content library so assets are findable a year later.

Social Media Management
  • Manage day-to-day publishing across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn for the event portfolio.
  • Write platform-native copy that fits each event's voice and each channel's format.
  • Handle community management, including comments, direct messages, and guest questions, escalating service issues to the right person.
  • Track platform changes and format trends, and test new formats rather than waiting for permission.

Writing and Storytelling
  • Write social copy, web copy, blog and article content, and supporting email content.
  • Develop human-interest stories from the event portfolio: competitors, vendors, volunteers, longtime guests, and community partners.
  • Draft scripts for video, emcee content, and promotional spots as needed.

Creative Collaboration
  • Work alongside the graphic designer and videographer to keep visual and written content aligned.
  • Partner with the Marketing Manager so content supports live campaigns instead of running parallel to them.
  • Supply content assets required for sponsor fulfillment and recap materials.

Performance and Growth
  • Report on content and social performance, including reach, engagement, follower growth, and content-driven traffic.
  • Identify what formats and topics actually move the numbers and reallocate effort toward them.
  • Maintain content and social metrics on the marketing scorecard.

Other Duties as Assigned
  • Take on additional responsibilities as the business and the event calendar require.

What We Are Looking For
  • Two or more years creating content professionally, whether in-house, agency, freelance, or for a team or venue.
  • A portfolio. We care more about what you have made than where you made it.
  • Strong video editing skills, including short-form vertical, with working knowledge of Adobe Premiere, CapCut, or comparable tools.
  • Solid photo skills and comfort operating your own capture on a busy event floor.
  • Genuine command of social platforms as a publisher, not just as a user.
  • Sharp writing. Short, specific, and human.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays during event season, and to be on your feet all day.
