Job Description

The Digital Content Manager leads content creation across official University digital platforms, such as WSU blogs, website, email marketing, social media. The Manager will plan, develop, and implement digital storytelling content across various channels to support the University's recruitment, retention, and engagement activities; raise its public visibility; improve its image; and reinforce its mission, vision, and strategic goals with external and internal audiences. The Manager is tasked with keeping up to date with the latest trends and strategies related to digital storytelling and social media, as well as tracking and updating on the communication preferences of various University audiences. The position also serves as the digital storytelling and social media expert for the University, partnering and providing guidance to numerous departments, offices, and centers across the University as needed.

Responsibilities

1. Blog and Social Media Content Management. Integrate and manage University Marketing and Communication strategies into digital communications for various university audiences. Plan, develop, and execute digital storytelling content for the WSU blog and social media platforms. Serve as the campus expert on digital content across blog and social media platforms and provide guidance across the university as necessary. Develop and promote content standards across blog and social media platforms. Manage the University events calendar and weekly events promotional newsletter using content management best practices. Collaborate with partners across the university on various content projects. Research to stay up to date on the latest trends in digital storytelling and social media, as well as communication preferences of WSU's target audience segments. Supervise and train student workers charged with creating content for assigned platforms.

2. Marketing and Communication Collaboration. Collaborate with the WSU Marketing & Communications team and contribute to overarching university marketing and communications strategies. Assist team with projects related to writing, marketing, new media, institutional image, event participation, media accessibility, web content, multimedia, and digital analytics.

3. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of Winona State University. Including but not limited to serving on committees and participating in professional development.

Salary Range: $47,845.00 - $93,809.00

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, Mass Communications, New Media, or related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in social media marketing, digital communications, writing and editing, or related work
  • Strong interpersonal skills (oral and written communications)
  • Marketing and communications project management experience
  • Proficient in social media platforms: Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, etc
  • Demonstrated experience in short-form video production and editing
  • Experience with analytics, planning, forecasting and reporting
  • Skilled at learning and adapting to new technology and interactive marketing strategies (in particular AI and AEO-based)
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations

Preferred Qualification

  • Experience with Adobe Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, etc.), Canva, CapCut, Microsoft Office and Google
  • Proficiency in project management platforms (Asana, Monday, Basecamp, etc)
  • Utilize generative AI and prompt engineering to scale content ideation, reduce research time and increase campaign engagement
