The U-Box Marketing Team is seeking a Digital Marketing Content Specialist to join our team. This role will work in close collaboration with our Digital Marketing Analyst, reporting directly to the U-Box IS Manager. The primary mission of this position is to build a more robust, deliberate, and high-impact content strategy that supports and amplifies our overall digital marketing efforts.
A successful Digital Marketing Content Specialist has a passion for storytelling, a deep understanding of SEO (including emerging AI-driven search), and the relationship-building skills to cultivate meaningful partnerships with authoritative third-party content sources and retail businesses. You will be the driving force behind creating high-quality, organic content that elevates our brand's online presence, earns traffic, and expands U-Box's reach through strategic partnerships.
This position is fully onsite at our headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona
Responsibilities:
Content Strategy & Creation:
  • Develop and own a comprehensive content calendar and strategy for U-Box that aligns with overall digital marketing goals
  • Produce a high volume of high-quality, original content for the U-Box website, including blog posts, landing pages, guides, and product descriptions, to drive organic traffic
  • Ensure all content is optimized for both traditional search engines (Google, Bing) and emerging AI-powered search platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews)
  • Continuously audit and refresh existing website content to improve relevance, accuracy, and search performance
  • Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Analyst to align content output with data-driven insights, keyword strategy, and conversion goals

SEO & AI Search Optimization:
  • Develop and execute on-page and off-page SEO strategies to improve organic search rankings across traditional and AI search surfaces
  • Conduct keyword research and topic clustering to identify high-value content opportunities in the moving and storage industry
  • Monitor organic search performance and use insights to continuously improve content strategy and execution
  • Stay current on AI search trends, algorithm updates, and best practices to keep U-Box content competitive in a rapidly evolving search landscape
  • Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Analyst to ensure SEO tracking and measurement is implemented correctly for all content initiatives

Third-Party Content Partnerships:
  • Identify, prospect, and cultivate relationships with authoritative third-party websites, blogs, and publications relevant to our industry (moving, storage, home goods, real estate, etc.)
  • Negotiate and manage content contribution and link-building partnerships that strengthen U-Box domain authority and brand visibility
  • Develop co-branded or guest content for distribution through partner channels
  • Track and report on the performance of third-party content placements and partnership ROI

Business & Retail Marketing Partnerships:
  • Identify and pursue retail and business partnership opportunities where U-Box product lines can be displayed or promoted at partner locations
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for marketing partnership outreach, coordination, and ongoing relationship management
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop partnership marketing materials, co-branded assets, and promotional strategies
  • Track and evaluate the effectiveness of retail and business partnership programs

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the Digital Marketing Analyst to ensure content and data strategies are integrated and mutually reinforcing
  • Liaise with U-Haul business units to ensure brand consistency and a cohesive customer experience across all content touchpoints
  • Communicate content performance, partnership updates, and strategic recommendations to the U-Box Program Manager and broader stakeholders

  • Strong understanding of SEO principles - including traditional search and AI-generated search results - and how content strategy intersects with them

  • Proven relationship-builder with experience developing content or business partnerships
  • Self-motivated and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

  • Resourceful and proactive, with a track record of identifying and acting on new opportunities
  • Passionate about staying current with digital marketing, content trends, and the evolving search landscape

Education and Training:
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience) in marketing, communications, journalism, English, or a related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in content marketing, content strategy, or a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience with SEO tools (e.g., SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, Google Search Console)
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) and basic HTML knowledge preferred
  • Experience in partnership development, media relations, or business development a strong plus
  • Familiarity with AI search tools and how they surface and prioritize content preferred
  • Portfolio of written content work required
