Location: Washington, DC Metro Area (Hybrid)
Type: Full-Time
Clearance: Ability to obtain public trust (preferred)

About the Role

We are seeking a mid-level Content Strategist & Creator to support communications for a federal client (Office of Personnel Management - OPM). This is a hands-on role for a strong writer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited to create content daily across multiple digital platforms.

This role goes beyond strategy. You will be actively writing, editing, and producing content that informs and engages audiences across the federal government. You will support communications that reach multiple federal agencies, translating complex information into clear, accessible, and compelling content.

What You’ll Do

Content Creation & Production (Core Responsibility)

  • Write and deliver daily, high-quality content across channels, including:
    • Social media (LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube)
    • Website copy and landing pages
    • Blog posts, articles, and newsletters
    • Video scripts and storyboards
  • Ensure content is clear, concise, accurate, and aligned with federal communications standards
  • Edit and proofread content for tone, clarity, and consistency

Content Planning & Execution

  • Execute content strategies aligned with OPM priorities and program goals
  • Maintain an editorial calendar and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Adapt messaging for different federal audiences and stakeholders
  • Conduct research to support accurate and effective messaging

Multi-Channel & Digital Engagement

  • Optimize content for each platform based on format, audience, and performance trends
  • Support SEO best practices and content accessibility (plain language, Section 508)
  • Collaborate with designers and video producers to create integrated content

Performance Optimization

  • Monitor content performance and adjust messaging based on insights (engagement, reach, clicks)
  • Update and improve existing content to maintain accuracy and effectiveness
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in content strategy, digital communications, or content marketing
  • Demonstrated ability to write and publish content daily across multiple channels
  • Strong experience with social media, web content, and video scripting
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Ability to translate complex or policy-related topics into clear, engaging content
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage competing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal agencies or government clients
  • Familiarity with OPM or federal HR/communications initiatives
  • Knowledge of plain language standards and Section 508 accessibility requirements
  • Experience communicating to multi-agency or enterprise audiences
Tools & Technology

You should be comfortable using modern digital content tools, including:

  • Content Management Systems: WordPress, Drupal, SharePoint
  • Social Media Platforms & Tools: LinkedIn, Meta, X, YouTube, Sprout Social, Hootsuite
  • Design & Video: Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro)
  • Analytics & SEO: Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, SEMrush, Search Console
  • Collaboration Tools: Microsoft 365, Teams, Jira, Asana, Trello
Salary & Benefits
  • Salary Range: $90,000 – $120,000 (commensurate with experience)
  • Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, PTO, 401k)
  • Hybrid work environment
  • Professional development opportunities
What Sets This Role Apart
  • Hands-on content creation (not just strategy or oversight)
  • Opportunity to impact federal workforce communications at scale
  • Work across multiple digital formats—social, web, and video
  • Collaborative, mission-driven environment supporting public service

Salaries will be commensurate with experience and range between $110,000 – 130,000
