Description:

About the American Immigration Council

The American Immigration Council (the Council) works to strengthen America by shaping how America thinks about and acts towards immigrants and immigration, and by working toward a more fair and just immigration system that opens its doors to those in need of protection and unleashes the energy and skills that immigrants bring.

The Council brings together individuals adept at solving problems and employs four coordinated approaches to advance changeโ€”litigation, research, legislative and administrative advocacy, and communications.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a creative, data-savvy Social Media Content Producer to join our Marketing and Communications team. In this role, you will develop and publish social-first multimedia content that drives reach, engagement, and audience growthโ€”turning complex immigration policy, litigation, and research into content that informs, moves, and activates audiences across our channels.

You will own content across both B2C platforms (Instagram, Bluesky, YouTube, Facebook) and B2B channels (LinkedIn), shaping what we say, how we say it, and why it matters. This is a high-impact role for a storyteller who combines creative instincts with analytical rigor and a genuine passion for mission-driven work.

What You'll Do

Content Creation (50%)

  • Produce platform-native content across Instagram, LinkedIn, Bluesky, and YouTube
  • Transform immigration policy and research into clear, shareable social content
  • Write platform-tailored captions, scripts, and copy
  • Develop creative content series and campaigns
  • Build toolkits for peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns

Channel Management (30%

  • Own day-to-day channel operations: publishing, scheduling, optimization
  • Partner with colleagues to source stories and deliver timely content
  • Balance planned editorial with real-time reactive coverage

Performance & Innovation (20%)

  • Track and report on content performance across platforms
  • Translate data into actionable content improvements
  • Spot emerging trends and platform shifts
  • Test new formats and storytelling approaches
  • Support influencer partnerships
Requirements:

What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • 3โ€“5 years in social media content production, digital storytelling, or content creation
  • Portfolio of engaging social-first content across formats and platforms
  • Exceptional storytelling and copywriting skills with ability to adapt tone to different audiences
  • Proficiency with CapCut, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools
  • Deep knowledge of Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging platforms
  • Experience with content calendars, publishing workflows, and scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Later, Sprout Social)
  • Ability to read platform analytics and translate insights into recommendations
  • Working knowledge of accessibility best practices (alt text, captions, color contrast)

Nice to Have

  • Background in advocacy, nonprofit, media, or other mission-driven organizations
  • Knowledge of or personal interest in immigration policy and immigrant rights
  • Experience with influencer relations or campaign-based content strategies

Work Environment

This is a fully remote position. Employees are expected to maintain a home workspace conducive to focused, professional work and have reliable internet access. This is an exempt position; occasional evening and weekend availability may be required to respond to breaking news or time-sensitive content opportunities. Responsibilities include extended periods of sitting at a workstation, frequent use of a PC or laptop for prolonged hours, and occasional verbal communication with team members and stakeholders via virtual platforms. When representing the Council at conferences or events, employees may occasionally be required to lift or move items up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role.

Why Join Us

Make a tangible impact in one of the most important policy conversations of our time, alongside a collaborative, mission-driven team with a deep commitment to equity and inclusion.

  • Salary range of $72,000โ€“$80,000, reflecting our commitment to equitable, market-competitive pay
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus employer-paid life and disability coverage
  • 401(k) with matching contributions after 3 months of employment
  • Generous paid time off and paid parental leave
  • Employee assistance program
  • Professional development opportunities

How to Apply

We ask that you include:

  • Your resume
  • A brief cover letter describing your interest in the role and the Council's mission
  • A portfolio or links to 3โ€“5 social media content examples you've created

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Early submissions are encouraged.

We are committed to creating an inclusive and accessible interview experience. If you require accommodations due to a disability or sincerely held religious beliefsโ€”such as an alternative format or assistance during the interviewโ€”please let us know in advance, and we will make every effort to support your needs.
