Summary:  Staff designated at Dickinson Wright PLLC (the “Firm”) as Student Interns will join a supportive working environment with a firm having a national platform while handling sophisticated matters for some of the nation’s largest and most innovative companies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities of staff designated as Student Intern at the Firm include, but are not limited to:

  1. Research all aspects of a matter, including relevant state law, case law and other legal texts;
  2. Draft legal documents, including reports, contracts, pleadings, etc.;
  3. Provide legal advice and counsel to clients;
  4. Represent clients at meetings, hearings and/or trials;
  5. Act as a business representative and working with the business to ensure that legal matters are handled professionally and efficiently;
  6. With regard to litigation, assist with discovery, attend depositions, work on trial preparation, jury selection and attend trial; and
  7. Work under the supervision of senior attorneys.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities Required:

Student Intern must possess strong academic credentials, analytic, writing and communication skills and provide excellent references.

Student Intern are expected to meet Minimum Performance Standards as provided in the Attorney Manual.

Working Conditions:

Normal law office environment with little exposure to noise, dust, temperature.
