JOB SUMMARY
The Growth & Campaign Writer plays a critical role in expanding awareness, deepening engagement, and driving action in support of United Way's mission through strategic, audience-centered marketing content.
This role serves as the organization's primary writer for fundraising, acquisition, and engagement campaigns, developing audience-centric content that advances organizational goals. Working from established audience personas, the Growth & Campaign Writer creates compelling messaging that speaks to the motivations, interests, and needs of United Way's key stakeholder groups and inspires meaningful action. Content may include fundraising campaigns, seasonal initiatives, paid media, landing pages, email and SMS journeys, website content, lead generation assets, campaign toolkits, and other conversion-focused communications. This role blends strong storytelling instincts with a deep understanding of audience behavior, and conversion-focused communications-connecting the right message with the right audience at the right moment.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Marketing, communications, journalism, English, or related degree
  • 3+ years of experience creating marketing, fundraising, or digital campaign content
  • Demonstrated experience writing conversion-focused copy across digital channels
  • Understanding of email marketing, paid media, SEO, and user experience best practices
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into clear, compelling calls to action
  • Strong project management skills and ability to balance multiple campaigns simultaneously

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop content tailored to United Way's priority audiences and personas, ensuring messaging is relevant, compelling, and aligned with audience motivations
  • Lead copy development for fundraising, acquisition, and awareness campaigns across multiple channels
  • Write persuasive content for email marketing, SMS campaigns, nurture journeys, and lead conversion efforts
  • Develop copy for paid media including digital advertising, social advertising, video scripts, display ads, lead generation and retargeting campaigns
  • Create landing pages and website content that drive engagement and conversion
  • Partner with fundraising, digital marketing, communications, and program teams to develop campaign messaging strategies and content plans
  • Develop campaign toolkits and messaging resources for internal teams, corporate partners, and community stakeholders
  • Adapt messaging for target audience segments, including donors, volunteers, corporate partners, and community supporters
  • Incorporate SEO best practices into website and campaign content
  • Analyze campaign performance and optimize messaging based on audience engagement and conversion data
  • Maintain consistency with organizational voice, brand guidelines, and campaign priorities
  • Assist with proofreading and quality assurance of campaign assets as needed
