Job Type: Full-time
Position Title: Content Marketing Manager
Department: Marketing
Location: Hybrid (Chicago, IL) 1 day/week in-office
Content Marketing Manager
AVANT is a platform for IT decision-making and the nation's premier distributor for next-generation technologies. AVANT provides unique value to its extensive network of Trusted Advisors with original research, channel sales assistance, training, and tools to guide decision-making around IT services that promote business growth. From complex cloud designs to global wide-area network deployments to the latest in security services, AVANT sets the industry standard in enabling its partners and clients to make intelligent, data-driven decisions about services, technology and cost-effective communications.
Role Overview
The Content Marketing Manager is responsible for shaping and elevating the company's brand voice through clear, credible, and compelling storytelling. This role will take strategic concepts and translate them into narratives that build trust, strengthen brand perception, and support sales and partner conversations.
Working closely with Marketing Managers across the organization, this role ensures content is aligned to campaign goals, audience needs, and business priorities. The Content Marketing Manager will also support select internal and external corporate communications, helping the company communicate clearly and consistently with employees, partners, and the broader market. In addition, the Content Marketing Manager will be responsible for the oversight and maintenance of the AVANT content library and content calendar.
This role is ideal for a strong writer and storyteller who can operate as both a strategic advisor and a hands-on content creator, while collaborating cross-functionally to bring a unified narrative to life across all distribution channels.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Strategy & Brand Storytelling
  • Consistently hone and amplify the AVANT brand voice, messaging, and narrative across all content and communications.
  • Work with the Marketing Managers to develop and execute a content strategy focused on thought leadership, education, and market positioning.
  • Ensure that content aligns across campaigns, collateral, audience segments, and go-to-market priorities.
  • Identify key industry trends and themes to inform content that builds credibility, trust, and share of voice.
  • Ensure consistency in tone, voice, and messaging across all internal and external touchpoints.

Content Creation & Editorial Leadership
  • Write and edit high-quality content including thought leadership articles, blogs, executive communications, case studies, website copy, press releases, training materials and presentations.
  • Translate complex product and industry concepts into clear, accessible, and engaging narratives.
  • Partner with senior leaders and subject matter experts as needed to develop executive voice and POV-driven content (e.g., LinkedIn posts, bylines, speaking materials).
  • Lead editorial quality and storytelling standards across teams and distribution channels.
  • Ensure all content aligns with brand, compliance, and regulatory requirements.

Sales Enablement & Partner Support
  • Work directly with Sales Enablement Marketing Manager to create and refine content for sales enablement assets such as one-pagers, pitch decks, FAQs, case studies, and product narratives.
  • Participate in project kick-offs with sales, channels managers, and vendor engagement teams to understand objections, messaging gaps, and customer needs.
  • Develop content that supports the TA journey and enables more effective sales and partner conversations.
  • Additionally develop content that promotes the AVANT vendor network with a focus on both breadth and differentiation of the offerings.
  • Refine messaging based on feedback from frontline teams and performance insights.

Corporate Communications
  • Support internal communications such as company updates, executive messages, and key initiatives.
  • Contribute to external corporate communications including announcements and press releases, with clear, aligned, and consistent narrative across audiences and channels.
  • Collaborate with leadership, HR, and Marketing Managers to support priority communications when needed.

Content Distribution, Amplification & Insights
  • Partner with Marketing Managers, Digital, and Creative teams to amplify content across owned, earned, and paid channels.
  • Ensure content is effectively repurposed across formats (e.g., long-form content to social, email, and sales collateral).
  • Work closely with Digital Marketing to understand content engagement and usage (e.g., content adoption, audience engagement, and qualitative sales feedback).
  • Use insights to refine messaging and content strategy, with a focus on trust, clarity, and alignment, not only lead volume or impressions.

Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in content marketing, brand storytelling, editorial, or communications roles
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a strong portfolio of B2B content
  • Experience developing brand voice and thought leadership in a B2B environment
  • Proven ability to create content that supports sales, partnerships, and business development
  • Experience collaborating closely with Marketing Managers, executives, creative teams and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint)
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

What Success Looks Like
  • A clear, consistent, and differentiated brand voice across all content and communications
  • Content that simplifies complex ideas and clearly communicates the company's value
  • Strong alignment between content strategy and Marketing Manager-led campaigns and initiatives
  • Sales and vendor teams actively using content to support conversations and close deals
  • Effective internal and external corporate communications that build clarity, alignment, and trust
  • Strong executive presence and thought leadership in the market, particularly on LinkedIn

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on content leader who thrives at the intersection of storytelling, brand, and business impact. They are a natural collaborator who enjoys partnering closely with Marketing Managers to ensure content supports campaigns and strategic priorities.
They are equally comfortable owning a content vision and executing against it-writing, editing, and refining content themselves. They bring executive presence, sound judgment, and strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
They are curious, detail-oriented, and highly collaborative, with a strong appreciation for clear communication-both internally and externally. Experience in complex or regulated industries and a background in journalism or editorial storytelling are strong pluses.
Benefits:
  • Medical Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • Commuter Benefits
  • 401K Match
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Generous Parental Leave
