Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for highly motivated construction inspectors for projects in Columbia, MD.
A Construction Inspector will be responsible for providing inspection services for transportation construction projects. They ensure all work and materials used are in compliance with the proposal, plans, and specifications. They may perform required calculations, take measurements, and verify weights and volumes as needed. They may plot and run cross sections and prepare "as builds" during progress of the project. They may perform materials testing. They will document inspected work daily.
This position requires heavy lifting, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis, and ability to perform work independently. Travel to construction sites throughout the state is an essential function of this position; a valid driver's license is required. Extended hours and overnight stays may be required.
The successful candidate will hold at least two applicable certifications, and one of the following:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related field
  • -OR- An Associate's Degree in Construction Management or related field AND two (2) years of relevant experience
  • -OR- If no degree, at least four (4) years of relevant experience

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:
  • Associate's Degree in related field preferred
  • SHA Yellow Card certification
  • MARTCP certification
  • Roadway Construction experience
  • Experience reading engineering plans
  • Experience reading and understanding technical reports
