Job Title: Project ManagerJob Description

The Project Manager leads ground-up and renovation construction projects across commercial, institutional, and public sectors in Connecticut. This role oversees the full project lifecycle from preconstruction through closeout, driving schedule, budget, and quality performance while maintaining strong relationships with clients, architects, consultants, and subcontractors. The position offers exposure to large, high-profile projects and a clear path for professional growth within a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the full project lifecycle, including preconstruction, buyout, execution, and closeout for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Develop, update, and maintain detailed project schedules using tools such as MS Project, P6, or similar scheduling software.
  • Create, track, and manage project budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring projects remain on budget and financially viable.
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, including scope review, bid analysis, and contract negotiation to ensure complete and competitive coverage.
  • Coordinate closely with field teams, including Superintendents, to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, consultants, and other stakeholders, providing timely communication and updates.
  • Lead and manage the RFI (Request for Information) process, ensuring timely responses and proper documentation.
  • Oversee the submittal process, including review, tracking, and coordination with design teams and field operations.
  • Prepare, review, and process change orders, ensuring accurate pricing, scope clarity, and proper approvals.
  • Monitor and control project costs, proactively identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to protect project margins.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations throughout the project.
  • Lead regular project meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients, documenting and following up on action items.
  • Provide regular project status reports and forecasts to internal leadership, highlighting schedule, budget, and risk updates.
  • Manage and prioritize a portfolio of 4 or more projects at any given time, particularly within public spaces with budgets ranging from approximately $200,000 to $3 million.
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, final documentation, and turnover to the client.
Essential Skills
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Project Manager with a General Contractor or Construction Manager.
  • Demonstrated experience managing ground-up commercial, public, or institutional construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, scheduling, and cost control principles.
  • Proven ability to manage subcontractors effectively, including procurement, coordination, and performance oversight.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and serve as a trusted point of contact.
  • Proficiency in project management software such as Procore, MS Project, or similar platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, budgeting, and scheduling for construction projects.
  • Experience scheduling construction projects and maintaining project timelines.
  • Experience maintaining project budgets and financials tied to specific jobs.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including 4 or more public-space projects ranging from approximately $200,000 to $3 million.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with clients, design teams, and internal staff.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with K-12, municipal, or broader public sector construction projects.

Work Environment

This is an on-site role based in the Hartford, Connecticut area, with regular travel to project sites. The Project Manager typically works from the office and visits project sites at least once a week to coordinate with field teams and monitor progress. When assigned to a large anchor project of approximately $50 million or more, the Project Manager works on-site daily, often from a project trailer, closely collaborating with Superintendents and subcontractors. The environment is fast-paced and team-oriented, with strong emphasis on collaboration, clear communication, and shared problem-solving. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hartford, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $160000.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
