Job description

Position Summary

The Project Engineer will provide support for the development of new engineering design opportunities as well as oversee the execution of large Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Projects. The Project Engineer will oversee the development of project plans and specifications, provide bidding support, engineering support, construction management, and manage the commissioning and start-up activities. Posted position does not allow for sponsorship or relocation assistance.

Essential Responsibilities

•    Assists with the preparation of design plans, specifications, and related documents for the development of bid packages with engineering consultants, vendors and contractors. This          may require occasional travel to project sites.
•    Read and interpret customer job specifications.
•    Assist with the development of engineering drawing package, single line, three lines, etc. 
•    Direct and check internal and external stakeholders in completing wiring diagrams. 

•    Assist the Project Management team to help interpret project write-ups, client specifications, drawings, and other correspondence during the life of the project.

•    Mentor junior project engineers in their team 
•    Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
•    Provide technical assistance as necessary to sales, engineering and inspection teams 
•    Develops Project Management Plans, including negotiating contractual documents directly with customers and/or suppliers.
•    Accountable for the planning, managing, and monitoring the project lifecycle to ensure projects are executed within their scope, schedule, budget, quality level, and targeted benefit            realization — the project lifecycle includes, from the requirement phase through project retirement closeout.
•    Accountable for facilitating project cost reporting, scheduling, work breakdown structure establishment, project set-up and closeout, and field progress tracking specific to construction        and construction related activities or program level activities as required.
•    Develop new and manage existing client relationships while interfacing with the client for proposal and project related items.
•    Ensures project alignment between customer requirements and company objectives to maximize benefit realization.
•    Control, monitor, and supervise project information safeguards with respect to project classification under CUI/ Secret/Top Secret.

Minimum Qualifications

•    Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Technology or related area
•    Minimum 2-4 years of experience in an Engineering role
•    Knowledge of National Electric Code, ASCE and IEEE Standards
•    Proficient with electrical design and circuitry. 
•    Proficient understanding of power system and relay applications as applied to products.
•    Basic drafting/CAD skills
•    Ability to clear and maintain Federal Security Clearance and Military Installation access requirements.
•    Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

•    2-3 years of Project Management experience, PMP certification preferred
•    Federal contracts or work experience preferred
•    Substation design experience and plus
•    Previous experience as a Facilities engineer or manager for Federal Installations

Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements

•    Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and advise effective preventative/corrective actions and recommendations and facilitate decision-making on technical matters to               project sponsors and support personnel
•    Effective communications in both oral and written forms. Experience giving project presentations and reports to a variety of audiences
•    Ability to manage & prioritize multiple projects, schedules and budgets in a fast-paced environment
•    Solid organization, communication, presentation and planning skills
•    Basic computer skills using Oracle, Word, Excel. 
•    Ability to read customer specifications, compare to the quote and provide technical feedback to project management and the customer on differences with minimal supervision. 
•    Apply technical documents to develop one-lines, three-lines and control schemes for SWGR using AutoCAD
•    Able to apply NEC, ANSI/IEEE, and various other codes as it applies to the day-to-day activity 
•    Thorough understanding of power system application along with relay application and coordination 
•    Able to understand, interpret and troubleshoot customer needs and problems
Working & Environmental Conditions

•    The employee typically performs duties in a normal office environment. 
•    There will be occasional travel to job sites for customer meetings, inspection, and technical support.
•    There may be some work in a manufacturing environment and exposure to the elements of our factory.              

  • Additionally, there may be some work performed in the field with exposure to construction sites or active customer facilities.
    •    In addition, employees will be required to complete and pass Company and Customer required drug screening, background and employment verification checks, maintaining eligibility throughout employment.
