Construction Project Engineer

Arlington, VA | Full-Time

About the Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Construction Project Engineer to support active construction and infrastructure projects across a variety of sectors including federal, municipal, K-12 education, healthcare, transportation, water/wastewater, higher education, laboratory facilities, data centers, and marina projects.

This position is ideal for a candidate with a strong construction management or engineering background who is looking to grow within project management while supporting field operations, project controls, QA/QC, inspections, documentation, and project closeout activities. Experience supporting K-12 projects is preferred.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support active construction projects through on-site representation and field coordination
  • Assist with project documentation, electronic file management, records clean-up, and closeout activities
  • Conduct inspections and support quality assurance / quality control efforts
  • Review construction plans and research project records
  • Support facility sustainment, restoration, and modernization projects
  • Assist Project Managers with small to mid-size construction projects
  • Help identify project issues and assist in developing practical solutions
  • Monitor schedules and communicate project updates with owners, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders
  • Support project controls, scheduling, cost estimating, budgeting, contract administration, constructibility reviews, inspections, and closeout processes

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of combined education and/or relevant construction experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
  • EIT or CMIT certification preferred
  • Progression toward PE, CCM, CCE, or PSP certifications preferred
  • Knowledge of construction management, project controls, scheduling, estimating, documentation, and contract administration
  • Understanding of applicable building codes, laws, and construction regulations
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification required within 3 months of hire
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with CADD, BIM platforms, Revit, Navisworks, or Autodesk 360 is a plus
  • Ability to work on active construction sites, climb ladders, work outdoors, and navigate uneven terrain safely
