General Foreman – Structural SteelSteelTek USA Inc. is seeking an experienced General Foreman to provide leadership and field oversight across multiple structural steel erection projects. This position will support project foremen and crews, monitor job performance, assist with manpower and resource planning, resolve field issues, and help ensure SteelTek standards for safety, quality, productivity, scheduling, and communication are consistently maintained.
The ideal candidate will have strong ironworker and structural steel erection experience, proven management experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to problem-solve and make sound field decisions independently.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and field support across multiple active projects.
  • Travel between jobsites to monitor progress, manpower, productivity, safety, quality, and project performance.
  • Support, mentor, and assist project foremen and field personnel.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers regarding manpower, schedules, equipment, materials, and project needs.
  • Assist with allocating manpower and resources between projects.
  • Review structural and erection drawings, specifications, schedules, and project requirements.
  • Assist with erection sequencing, mobilization, remobilization, and short-term planning.
  • Identify field problems and develop practical solutions to keep projects moving.
  • Make timely decisions and recognize when issues should be elevated to management.
  • Identify potential delays, quality concerns, or productivity issues before they significantly affect the project.
  • Maintain communication with General Contractors, superintendents, customers, subcontractors, and other trades.
  • Promote and enforce SteelTek safety policies and applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain accurate field reports, photos, documentation, and project communications.
  • Use company software, email, electronic drawings, smartphones, tablets, and computers as part of daily responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
  • Significant ironworker and structural steel erection experience.
  • Previous experience as a Foreman, General Foreman, Superintendent, or similar field leadership role.
  • Proven construction management and personnel leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of structural steel erection, rigging, cranes, bolting, welding, and related field operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural and erection drawings.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities across multiple active projects.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Comfortable using computers, tablets, smartphones, email, and construction-related software.
  • Ability to learn and navigate new software.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 75%, including extended stays away from home when required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience overseeing multiple construction projects.
  • Experience coordinating manpower and equipment across multiple jobsites.
Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time salaried position with compensation based on experience, qualifications, leadership background, and structural steel experience.
