Position Summary

The Construction Accountant will be responsible for managing the company's accounting functions, including job costing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, financial reporting, project profitability analysis, and month-end close. The ideal candidate has experience working in the construction, millwork, cabinetry, or manufacturing industries and understands project-based accounting.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily accounting operations of the company.
  • Maintain the general ledger and prepare monthly financial statements.
  • Perform job costing and track project profitability.
  • Monitor construction project budgets, labor costs, material costs, and overhead.
  • Process Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and vendor statements.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Assist with payroll processing and payroll reporting.
  • Prepare sales tax reports and assist with year-end audits.
  • Work closely with project managers and company leadership to monitor project costs and financial performance.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
  • Previous experience in construction accounting, project accounting, cabinet manufacturing, millwork, or general contracting strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Job Cost Accounting
    • Work-in-Progress (WIP) Reporting
    • Construction Billing
    • Project Cost Tracking
    • Financial Reporting
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Sage 100 Contractor, Sage 300, Foundation, Viewpoint, or similar accounting software is highly preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AIA Billing.
  • Experience in custom manufacturing or architectural millwork.
  • Knowledge of inventory accounting and cost accounting.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
