This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII's Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations.

Summary
HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a Configuration Management (CM) Specialist responsible for establishing, controlling, and maintaining configuration baselines across development, test, and production environments supporting Rapid Reaction systems. This role ensures system integrity by managing configuration items, overseeing change control processes, maintaining configuration status accounting, and performing audits in accordance with ANSI/EIA-649-B standards. The CM Specialist enables secure, reliable deployments by integrating CM practices into CI/CD pipelines and coordinating change approvals through the full lifecycle.
This requisition supports hiring at multiple experience levels. Final placement will be determined based on the selected applicant's qualifications, experience, and skill sets.

What you will do
  • Manage configuration baselines across development, test, and production environments for Rapid Reaction systems.
  • Identify configuration items, establish change control boards (CCBs), and maintain configuration status accounting in accordance with ANSI/EIA-649-B standards.
  • Create and maintain software, hardware, and documentation baselines using Git-based version control systems and JIRA for change tracking.
  • Implement CM controls within CI/CD pipelines to ensure only approved and validated changes are deployed to operational systems at MacDill AFB.
  • Oversee and manage the full change approval lifecycle, including initial request intake, CCB review, technical evaluation, testing validation, and production release.
  • Conduct configuration audits to verify baseline accuracy, change compliance, and alignment with engineering documentation.
  • Evaluate and recommend CM tools such as GitLab, Ansible, and Puppet to automate baseline management and reduce configuration drift across SDN, TACLAN, and cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and operations teams to maintain configuration integrity and support rapid deployment objectives.
  • Additional duties as assigned or required.

What we are looking for
Level 2: 3 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 1 year relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experience.
Level 3: 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
Level 4: 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
  • Experience managing configuration baselines and CM processes in DoD, government, or complex technical environments.
  • Strong understanding of ANSI/EIA-649-B configuration management standards and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Git-based version control systems and JIRA for configuration tracking and change management.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and implementation of CM controls within deployment workflows.
  • Experience leading or supporting CCB processes, change request reviews, and production release cycles.
  • Ability to conduct configuration audits and maintain accurate configuration status accounting.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools such as GitLab, Ansible, and Puppet.
  • Understanding of SDN, TACLAN, cloud computing environments, or similar network architectures.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain a Top Secret clearance.

  • Experience supporting operational systems at MacDill AFB or similar DoD environments.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and integration processes.
  • CM certifications (CMPIC, CMII, or equivalent).
