Brown Technologies is currently seeking an Engineering Technician III to provide on-site IT and audiovisual (AV) support at NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC). In this role, you will install, maintain, and troubleshoot conference room IT and AV equipment, support VIP end-users, perform preventative maintenance, and resolve network and VOIP incidents in accordance with service level agreements. The ideal candidate brings hands-on AV/IT technician experience, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work independently within established guidelines in a fast-paced government facility environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, cable, support, and maintain IT equipment and audiovisual conference room equipment for both legacy and new installations; evaluate and recommend necessary product maintenance activities and upgrades.
  • Perform technical analyses of conference room software, hardware, and transmission equipment using various diagnostic tools in support of efficient operations.
  • Monitor data traffic and control network resource performance to ensure high-quality transmission.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service, professionalism, and end-user support to a large VIP customer base.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and ongoing patching of conference room equipment.
  • Support root cause analysis activities for conference room incidents.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical problems related to network failure/integrity and usage of PC hardware and software, including conference room displays, controllers, Crestron devices, AMX, Cisco, and other conferencing devices.
  • Resolve work orders for Network, VOIP, and conference room equipment in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Analyze and solve standard problems by applying experience, judgment, and precedents; work within established guidelines and policies with a moderate level of guidance.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to audiences ranging from Level 1 technicians to VIP customer stakeholders, verbally and in writing.
  • Utilize existing knowledge while continuously building additional knowledge of company processes, client requirements, and evolving technology.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree (AA or AS) with 4 years of relevant experience, OR High School Diploma/GED with 6 years of relevant experience in IT/AV systems support.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting IT and audiovisual conference room equipment (displays, controllers, Crestron, AMX, Cisco, or similar conferencing systems).
  • Experience resolving work orders and incidents for Network, VOIP, and AV/IT equipment within defined SLAs.
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance and apply patching procedures to conference room hardware and software.
  • Proficiency in identifying and resolving network failure, integrity, and PC hardware/software issues using diagnostic tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to handle situations professionally across all organizational levels.
  • Experience with 70-volt indoor/outdoor Public Address (PA) systems.
  • Valid driver's license; qualified and willing to operate GSA-owned vehicles, including 12-inch box trucks.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be available to work on-site at Johnson Space Flight Center during standard business hours.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience supporting AV/IT operations in a federal government, NASA, or VIP/executive environment.
  • Familiarity with Crestron and AMX programming or configuration environments.
  • Experience supporting multi-room or enterprise-scale AV/IT conference room deployments.
  • Knowledge of network performance monitoring tools and methodologies.
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with experience working within structured ticketing and work order management systems.
