Overview

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital's staff is composed of full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Role Purpose

Oversees the daily assignment of concierge staff to ensure all Barnes Jewish Hospital service lines receive adequate and consistent coverage. Provides database management and tracking of concierge statistics. Oversees and directs new concierge training program. Develops and maintains excellent relationships with internal stakeholders and external volunteers. Provide administrative support to the management staff and the initiatives of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates VIP process by integrating activities and communication to administration, nursing leadership and Foundation. Maintains data base for daily activity of services provided.
  • Creates staff, department and external customer awareness of the functions and services of Concierge department by facilitating presentations for BJH and WU.
  • Maintains lodging lists, updates for any changes to property, establishes excellent relationships with hotel sales people. Checks for hotel availability, collects room night activity from each property and maintains data base of all information.
  • Directs the daily operation of the assigned concierge office to include ensuring daily tasks are completed by concierge, Meet and Greets are assigned, new admit patients are rounded on, and there is adequate office coverage.
  • Responsible for oversight of the Concierge program including, development of orientation, conducting training of current and new Concierge staff, and continued mentoring of Concierge staff for process and performance approval.
