Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Director of Deployment Engineering to lead a team responsible for the successful deployment, integration, and lifecycle management of cloud-native applications within complex telecommunications environments. This leader will oversee deployment engineering teams that implement and support Kubernetes-based solutions across customer networks, ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence.

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Engineering, the ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in cloud-native platforms, telecom infrastructure, and DevOps practices with proven leadership experience managing geographically distributed engineering teams and customer-facing deployments.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of Deployment Engineers and Technical Deployment Specialists.
  • Ensure successful implementation, configuration, validation, and production readiness of customer deployments.
  • Establish deployment metrics, KPIs, and reporting to measure deployment success, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Define deployment engineering strategy, processes, standards, and best practices to improve deployment quality, efficiency, and predictability.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation; monitor progress and address any risks or issues that arise.
  • Establish deployment methodologies that support both traditional telecom and cloud-native network architectures.
  • Develop organizational capabilities to successfully drive rapid customer acceptance, of platform upgrades, and large-scale production rollouts.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Program Management, and Support organizations to drive successful customer outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize deployment processes and enhance service delivery.
  • Support capture efforts with proposals, white papers and reviewing cost estimates.
  • Travel as required for business needs.

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience in software deployment, systems engineering, DevOps, SRE, platform engineering, or related disciplines.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing engineering or deployment teams.
  • Experience deploying and operating containerized applications in production environments.
  • Knowledge of telecom technologies such as:
    • 4G/5G Core
    • IMS
    • VoIP/SIP
    • OSS/BSS integrations
    • Network Functions Virtualization (NFV)
    • Cloud-Native Network Functions (CNFs)
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and deployment automation.
  • Experience with Linux systems, networking, storage, and distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex customer-facing deployments.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
