We are looking for a qualified Communications Security (COMSEC) Custodian to maintain COMSEC inventory, accountability, and reporting in compliance with established policies. This person will oversee technical reviews and releasability of requirements, identify and resolve cryptonet management issues, and support the provisioning and sustainment of U.S. Government and partner cryptologic capabilities. The position is on-site at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) supporting U.S Air Force Major Commands (MAJCOM) and U.S. Space Force Field Commands (FLDCOM).

Responsibilities
  • Respond to COMSEC/Crypto data calls and assist with COMSEC incidents as needed.
  • Manage lifecycle activities for COMSEC equipment, including coordination for repair, return, tracking (e.g., FMS logistics/MDATs), and proper destruction of obsolete assets.
  • Conduct required inventory assessments and ensure proper storage, handling, and documentation in compliance with DoD/DoW policies.
  • Review all COMSEC Audit reports for account audits and provide assistance to COMSEC accounts as needed.
  • Assist with cryptographic device software and hardware upgrades by ensuring compliance, reporting compliance through Communications Coordination Centers (CCC), and working with HQ CCC and AFLCMC/HNC in strategic messaging, dissemination of upgrade instructions, and compliance tracking through various authoritative databases.
  • Provide functional area manager review and validation of all AF Form 601s, Authorization Change Request, and Special Purpose Recoverable Authorized Maintenance requests for Crypto/CCI.
  • Support development and maintenance of COMSEC SOPs and training materials.
  • Performs assessments of systems and networks within the networking environment or enclave and identifies where those systems/networks deviate from acceptable configurations, enclave policy, or local policy.
  • Represent and participant in the Cryptographic Modernization Action Group (CMAG).

Education/Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active DoD Secret clearance (minimum), with the ability to maintain.
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (equivalent professional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • 6+ years' directly related, professional experience with at least 4 years direct COMSEC experience.
  • Must be enrolled in Cryptographic Access Program (CAP).
  • Up to date 8570 compliance required (e.g. Security+ or IAT Level II equivalence).
  • Proven experience in COMSEC account management, cryptographic modernization, and handling Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI).
  • Deep understanding of Air Force and Space Force COMSEC policies, AF Form 601 processing, and Special Purpose Recoverable Authorized Maintenance requests.
  • Strong interpersonal and strategic communication skills to effectively interface with higher headquarters, action groups, and subordinate unit Key Operating Account Managers (KOAMs).
  • Professional experience shall include ordering, processing, shipping, receiving, packaging, material handling, property accountability, and discharge of excess property using automated inventory control systems.
  • Practical experience with processing paperwork related to Government Bill of Lading and the DD1149.
