Overview
The IT Enterprise Operations Engineer will be part of an industry leading IT team working in a fast paced, environment at PDS Health. Reporting to the Manager, IT Enterprise Operations, this individual will be responsible for day-to-day tasks functioning primarily as mid to upper tier support through all phases of project and cloud services lifecycle. The Engineer is responsible for the overall health of the systems enterprise-wide with specific emphasis on ensuring efficient, reliable application and system services delivery to all constituents in the organization.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in architecture discussions and review with various IT groups' technical, business, and use case requirements. Ensure supportability requirements and standards are followed.
  • Develop new standards to improve stability and scalability of the current environment with specific considerations to sustainability and future-proof design.
  • Research and recommend innovative and where possible automated approaches to configuration and applications. Identify approaches that leverage existing resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Author documents that improve governance and librarianship with system-related architectures.
  • Participate in all phases of development life-cycle environments including development, test, staging and production infrastructure systems, applications, servers and cloud services.
  • Skilled in determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Daily infrastructure services support, engineering and administration in multi-vendor environment.
  • Manage relationships with vendor support of multiple systems to troubleshoot and investigate the root causes of performance and failure issues.
  • Mentor and train peers on best practices and operations related issues.
  • Actively participate in performance and high-availability planning.
  • Provide guidance to team members in the daily support of various backup systems ensuring successful backups and test backups at regular intervals.
  • Ensure that processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides are developed and maintained for the team.
  • Continuously update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications and white papers.
  • Improve performance of the systems by researching, evaluating and recommending new technology products and services.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in MIS or Computer Science or equivalent education and applicable work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability performing automation of services.
  • Previous experience developing, implementing, and operating large-scale, highly available environments
  • Experience with MS Windows 2012R2 and newer server class OS.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Preferred
  • Experience with Okta for Identity Management.
  • Direct experience using scripting languages for automation purposes. (Python, PowerShell etc.)
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) and DevOps processes.
  • 4+ years of experience working with virtualization technology, provisioning compute and storage resources

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Ability to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Strong skills in communication, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret performance reports and recommend course of action.
  • Ability to monitor systems for anomalies that require investigation and resolution.
  • Advanced knowledge of disk size formatting, cluster sizing, and appropriate applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory and Windows domain environments.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS SQL service configuration and load balancing.
  • Advanced knowledge of share and NTFS permissions.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Linux commands, SSH, and SCP.
  • Understanding of general networking principles pertaining to a large enterprise WAN environment.
  • Understanding of hardware associated with hosted solutions including switches and load balancers.
  • Experience with VMware vSphere 6.5, vCenter
  • Experience with thin provisioning and thick provisioning best practices.
  • Maintain an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with Company policy.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies, as well as State, Federal and other regulatory bodies.
