IT Computer Technician (System Support Specialist)

Type: Full-Time

Location: Ft. Novosel, Alabama

Travel: 10%

Position Summary

The System Support Specialist will establish an IT capability to maintain and troubleshoot Government-provided IT systems in accordance with DOD and local policy and guidance. Additionally, provide all supervision, labor, transportation, software, materials and other items, parts required to perform maintenance services (including preventive/routine maintenance and repair services) for all existing and replacement for existing computer- based media, cameras, microphones. The System Support Specialist will provide responsive AV replacement and maintenance support to support various U.S. Will coordinate all hardware and software purchases with the COR. Contractor duties are IAW U.S. Army SERE School SOPs and respective POI content.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • IT Computer Technician
    • Management and oversight of IT systems
    • Maintenance of IT hardware and software
    • Maintain computer certificates
    • Initiate new user accounts
    • Track user accounts and annual training requirements
    • Provide general IT support to military cadre, training and support staffs
    • Perform lifecycle system replacement assessments
    • Backing up user data
    • Troubleshooting all software and hardware issues, replacing components, and performing updates
    • Provide troubleshooting support for specialized servers and raid arrays
    • Coordinate with the 1st Aviation Brigade and 1-45th Bn S-6 to provide user level maintenance and system troubleshooting, as well as account management for assigned government and contractor personnel
    • In coordination with the COR, order replacement equipment up to $100,000 through resourced vendor
    • Submit status of all areas of responsibility in a weekly report
  • Audio-Visual Support
    • AV Replacement:
      • Improve, update, and provide one-year maintenance and support to the AV system in and around the SERE training facilities located at TAC-X to support the execution of SERE training, ensure student safety, facilitate training of instructors, and ensure the physical security of the facilities
      • Provide on-call warranty and system maintenance support for one-year after Government acceptance of all installed hardware or software
      • Provide end-user training and user manuals on all aspects of installed systems
    • AV Systems Maintenance:
      • Provide supervision, labor, transportation, software, materials and other items, parts required to perform maintenance services (including preventive/routine maintenance and repair services) for all existing and replacement for existing computer- based media, cameras, microphones, video cable, audio-visual equipment, and Ethernet based networking devices and switches
      • Perform routine maintenance on software and hardware
      • Replace up to $100,00 of equipment that becomes unserviceable due to acts of nature including but not limited to lighting, power surges, flooding, and vandalism
    • Able to withstand physical rigor associated within the various working environments, including but not limited to standing for long periods of time, manipulating objects with hands/fingers which require finite dexterity, sound detection by ear, stooping, kneeling, and/or crawling, climbing ladders or other elevated devices
    • Reach, pull, lift, drag objects with hands and arms
    • Sit, stand, and walk frequently for extended time periods
    • Must be able to work in varying conditions, both inside and outside where exposure to heat, cold, dust, wind, rain, or other weather and environmental conditions are possible

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • CompTIA Security+ certification (supersedes A+ and Network+)
  • Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist (MCTS): Windows 7 or higher, such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
  • AV systems expertise
  • Proven record of providing qualified AV systems services and expertise for a comprehensive AV system
  • Compliance with FAR 54.204-24 and 54.204-25 regarding certain telecommunications and video surveillance services or equipment
  • Prior experience providing similar services and equipment of the size and scale as the U.S. Army SERE school
  • 3 years related prior experience preferred
  • Business with a Secret Facility Clearance and secret cleared employees preferred
  • Must have or be able to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance
  • Must be able to access installation
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Computer literacy with experience in Microsoft 360 (Word, Teams, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc.)
  • US citizen or ability to legally work in the US
  • Present a professional and credible image at all times
  • Superior management and communication skills
