Job description

The ancestors of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation existed many centuries ago as a community of people...a Tribe living together, farming, hunting and fishing to survive.
Much has changed since that time. Today the Sycuan Tribe governs its Reservation, owns and operates a Casino and a Golf Resort, and owns a number of other business ventures in the San Diego Region.
One attribute that remains unchanged, however, is Sycuan's sense of community. Sycuan is more than just a business. Sycuan is a community of people working together toward a common goal. Whether you work in our state-of-the-art Casino, our beautiful Resort, or become a staff member in our Tribal Government division, you will be part of the Sycuan family.
Job Purpose:
Provides technical support for casino, resort and business computer systems
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
(Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)
  1. Provides technical support for computer hardware and software by answering incoming help desk phone calls, providing personal service to computer users, installing PC hardware and software, configuring PC workstations and troubleshooting system failures.
  2. Ensures database uptime and helps maintain disaster recovery strategy by monitoring daily backups and casino-related computer systems, changing daily tapes and noting appropriate log entries.
  3. Assists IT Operations Manager by administering production services and completing special projects as assigned.

Job Specifications:
Education and Experience:
Essential:
CompTIA A+/N+ Certification and/or 4 years of IT experience and/or an Associate's Degree in IT and/or related field.
Desirable:
  • IT experience in a casino or gaming environment

Skills and Knowledge:
Essential:
  • Working knowledge of intermediate to advanced PC hardware and software installation, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills
  • Working knowledge of intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques
  • Working knowledge of basic to intermediate network connectivity practices, routing, and switching terminology, network cabling best practices, and interconnectivity solutions
  • Working knowledge of local and network printing services, connectivity, hardware maintenance, driver installation, and industry standard troubleshooting skills
  • Working knowledge of telecom (phone) service and support practices, voicemail creation, and maintenance techniques
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft SQL terminology, connectivity techniques via ODCB, and service availability troubleshooting skills
  • Basic working knowledge of Client/Server application deployment and best practices
  • Working knowledge of InfoGenesis point-of-sale connectivity, installation, service, and troubleshooting skills
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Aristocrat Technologies Inc., slot accounting suite (Oasis) application installation, service and support
  • Ability to effectively communicate problems, resolutions, and instructions to non-IT personnel
  • Ability to interact effectively with a diverse employee population

  • Good to excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language
