Job description

Saalex is seeking an Computer Systems Analyst III in Ridgecrest, CA. Saalex is an Engineering and Information Technology Services company with a focus on Test Range Operations and Management, Engineering and Logistics Services, Data Analytics and Business Intelligence Services and Information Technology Services.

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $27.63 - $34.54 hourly (depending upon experience)

Work Location: Fully onsite in Ridgecrest, CA

Serves as the work unit senior or lead Analyst. Analyzes business or scientific problems for resolution through electronic data processing. Gathers information from users, defines work problems and, if feasible, designs a system of computer programs and procedures to resolve the problems. Applies systems analysis and design techniques to complex computer systems in a broad operational area such as engineering, statistics, logistics planning, materiel management, etc.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains and modifies complex systems or develops new subsystems such as integrated production or operations scheduling, cost analysis or inventory control.
  • Guides users in formulating requirements and advises on alternatives and on the implications of new or revised data processing systems.
  • Analyzes user project proposals, identifies omissions and errors in requirements and conducts feasibility studies.
  • Recommends optimum approach and develops system design for approved projects.
  • Provides technical support to computer users and organize sequence of events in computer operation cycle.
  • Investigates and locates source of non-standard irregularities; analyze and recover program operations in complex error situations.
  • Interfaces with Systems Analysts, Engineers and other system users.
  • Supports special project activities relative to planning, computer program coding, and related activities.
  • Establishes and maintains a filing system of databases for tracking and inventory of database information.
  • May serve as lead analyst in a design subgroup, providing work direction and integrating the work of one or more lower level analyst.
  • Each employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to their job.
  • Performs other related duties as directed.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Network Infrastructure Management:  configure, and maintain complex networking systems, including the deployment of enterprise switches and the physical installation and population of server room racks.
  • Network Protocols: TCP/IP, VLANs, STP, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP)
  • Hardware Configuration: Switch setup, CLI configuration, and firmware management (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, or Arista)
  • Physical Infrastructure: "Rack-and-stack" server installations, cable management, fiber optic handling/testing, and Cat6 ethernet termination.
  • Systems Integration: Network Time Protocol (NTP), Precision Time Protocol (PTP) and integrating Radio Frequency (RF) or Microwave backhaul systems with IP networks.
  • Troubleshooting & Tools: Network performance monitoring, packet capture analysis (e.g., Wireshark) and physical layer testing (e.g., using OTDR for fiber)
  • Specialized Systems Integration: Seamlessly integrate diverse communication systems-such as microwave, RF radio, precision timing systems, and video-into the primary network architecture.
  • Physical Layer Implementation: Install, route, and manage both copper (Ethernet) and fiber optic cabling to ensure robust and reliable network connectivity throughout the entire range.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required. Must be able to work under deadlines.
  • Travel to remote company work locations may be required.

Requirements

Required:

  • Excellent communications and analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
  • Demonstrated skills in leading junior members of the work unit in complex assignments.
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software.
  • Must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license.
  • Requires competence in all phases of systems analysis techniques, concepts, methods, and knowledge of available system software, computer equipment and user requirements.
  • CompTIA Sec+ is required.
  • Associates degree preferred or Vocational/technical training beyond high school or and a minimum of 10 years of job-related experience or equivalent.

Desired:

  • Windows Operating System (OS) certification desired.

Security Clearance:

Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
