Job Summary:

The Systems Engineer is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and security of company intranets and computer systems. Their duties include installing antivirus or malware protection software, responding to employee concerns or drafting documents to help employees use computer systems and coordinating with company leadership to determine new technologies that could enhance their company’s computer systems. The below is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job and is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of essential functions, responsibilities, or requirements.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  1. Maintain essential IT infrastructure, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware.
  2. Design, deploy, secure, and support enterprise Artificial Intelligence solutions, including private Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, genetic AI platforms and AI-powered business automation.
  3. Take responsibility for projects and solutions within the larger business initiative.
  4. Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems that provide commercial advantage in the global marketplace.
  5. Enable faster and smarter business processes and develop dashboards for meaningful insights.
  6. Work with internal and external partners to communicate project status, activities, and achievements.
  7. Perform server administration tasks (ex: user/group, security permissions, group policies, print services), research event-log warnings and errors, and monitor resources to ensure that systems architecture components work together seamlessly.
  8. Monitor data-center health using existing management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers when needed.
  9. Maintain internal infrastructure requirements, including laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, security updates, support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments.
  10. Experience with Virtual Machine Infrastructure required.
  11. Experience with cloud technology, especially Azure, AWS & Google Cloud
  12. Assist the help desk and other teams with troubleshooting to identify root cause and provide technical support when needed.
  13. Perform routine and scheduled audits of all systems, including backups.
  14. Patch management.
  15. Systems installation and configuration.
  16. Performance monitoring.
  1. Regular and reliable attendance expected. 
  2. Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager. 


Minimum Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Required

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or another related field. Masters in information systems preferred.
  2. 5-7 years’ experience as Systems Administrator required.
  3. Ideal professional certifications to include but not limited to: Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), CompTIA Server+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator, Red Hat Certified Engineer and VMware Certified Professional.
  4. Knowledge of Unix systems administration.
  5. Ability to solve problems in stressful situations.
  6. Must possess a strong attention to detail.
  7. Effective communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to inexperienced users in a helpful, professional, and timely manner.
  8. Must possess time management skills.
