Faculty Position in AI-Driven Musculoskeletal Research Yale University School of Medicine - Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation
The Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation at Yale University School of Medicine invites applications for a faculty position (Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) in the tenure track for candidates with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and a strong interest in musculoskeletal (MSK) research and/or orthopedic surgery. Applicants must hold a PhD and/or MD (or equivalent degree) and demonstrate outstanding qualifications in research and education.
Areas of Interest Include:
• Artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in musculoskeletal medicine and orthopedic surgery
• Biomedical data science and modeling relevant to MSK health
• Image analysis and computer vision for orthopedic imaging
• Clinical informatics and outcomes research in orthopedics
• Precision medicine and personalized approaches to MSK disorders
• Biomechanical modeling, simulation, and computational orthopedics
• Integration of AI with electronic medical records and surgical workflows
Responsibilities:
• Establish and maintain a vigorous, independently funded research program in AI-driven musculoskeletal science
• Collaborate with clinical and research faculty in orthopedics, engineering, and data science
• Supervise and mentor students, residents, and fellows from diverse backgrounds
• Contribute to the educational missions of the department and Yale School of Medicine
• Foster an environment of collaboration, innovation, and scientific discovery
Qualifications
• PhD and/or MD (or equivalent) with demonstrated expertise in AI, data science, or related fields
• Track record of independent, creative research accomplishments
• Track record of federally funded (NSF, NIH, etc) research
• Interest or experience in musculoskeletal research and/or orthopedic surgery is preferred
• Strong scientific, management, and interpersonal skills
