Job description

This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching part-time in the Automotive department. The pool will remain open until June 2026 unless positions are no longer needed. Applications will be reviewed and candidates will be contacted and interviewed as positions become available.

The application documents required include a resume and current ASE Certification. (Attach as "Unofficial Transcripts #1".) Compensation is based on the Rogue Community College 25-26 Adjunct Faculty Salary Schedule. Instructor is responsible for the planning and implementation of various automotive courses including but not limited to brakes, electrical, engine diagnosis and repair, powertrains, suspension and steering, and hydraulics

Instructor is required to create a course syllabus, instruct students in the subject matter in accordance with that syllabus, maintain attendance records, assess student progress and evaluate course work for a letter grade. Instructor will maintain college standards in all aspects of professionalism, record keeping and instruction within the team atmosphere of the automotive department of Rogue Community College. Supervision Received The dean, in consultation with the department chair is responsible for carrying out the evaluation of instructors under procedures developed by the vice president.

The dean confers with the department chair in decisions regarding instructor workload, professional growth, retention, and department staffing levels. Examples of Duties - Essential Functions 1. Instructs students in a classroom, lab, learning center, or other setting as appropriate.

2. Prepares, distributes and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate. 3.

Develops, communicates, and utilizes a student assessment process and instruments which are related to the stated objectives of the course. 4. Participates as a team member in department meetings and planning activities.

5. Participates in curriculum planning and development as needed. 6.

Represents the program and the college to the community, businesses, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner. 7. Communicate effectively with a wide variety of students and college staff.

8. Responsible for departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department. 9.

Advise students on matters of program goals and course requirements. 10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Screening Criteria Education: Current ASE Certification is required. (Attach as "Unofficial Transcripts #1" on your application.) Recent field experience and training required. ASE Master Certification L1 advanced engine performance certification and factory training preferred

An Associate of Science degree in automotive technology preferred. Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree

Experience: Current industry experience with diagnosis and repair of different types of automotive. Recent field experience and training required. Thorough knowledge of "High-Tech" electronics systems is desirable.

Teaching experience preferred. Knowledge of: Automotive equipment industry; automotive system which include engine repair, manual and automatic transmissions, front ends, brakes, hydraulics, heating and air conditioning, and electrical systems. Proficient in using various software such as electronic service manuals, engine diagnosis/wave forms; computer applications for communication and learning, including, but not limited to, word processing, the Internet, multi-media presentations, spreadsheets and database management; curriculum development; the community colleges' mission, role in higher education, and diverse student body and its needs; of the role of accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act; of a variety of pedagogical methods, including lecture, group activity, discussion and individual instruction to accommodate a variety of learning styles.

Ability to: Direct and assist students in labs with the diagnosis and repair of automotive equipment systems in live situations. Communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues and students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds; work collaboratively as a member of an academic department; demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching in the subject area; participate in curriculum and program development; participate in the student advising program and college-wide efforts to improve student retention and success; demonstrate experience or potential for innovation and creativity in both the classroom and related educational duties, including the use of new technologies; demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and growth. Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Licenses: Must possess a valid Oregon Driver License and provide proof of an acceptable driving record. Manual dexterity and coordination are typically required over 50% of the work day and at times 100% while operating automotive tools and equipment, computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including the ability to lift and/or move materials up to 25 lbs.
