The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is the intellectual hub of the University of Oregon, serving nearly two-thirds of all students. The Computer Science Department in the College of Arts and Sciences offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Computer Science. The department serves approximately 600 undergraduate and 90 graduate majors, as well as offering a number of general education classes in the discipline. Computer Science instruction emphasizes a rigorous yet creative approach to computing, prioritizing synchronous, hands-on, face-to-face learning rather than fully remote or asynchronous formats.
Position Summary
The Department of Computer Science at the University of Oregon is inviting applications for its open instructor pool. Instructional opportunities include mainly introductory courses, covering the fundamentals of computer science, web programming, problem solving, and more.
Positions are limited duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years, based on programmatic need, funding, and performance. Screening of applications will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled.
Minimum Requirements
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Education, or a related field.
Professional Competencies
• Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to contribute to institutional diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
• A PhD in Computer Science, Computer Science Education, or a related field.
• Teaching and/or practical experience in the field.
