Department Overview

The Division of Informatics, Clinical Epidemiology and Translational Data Science (DICE) conducts research that focuses on the use of health information technology to improve the quality of care for patients with chronic illnesses. Our mission is to innovate informatics methods and technologies to improve clinical care and patient outcomes. This includes leveraging artificial intelligence, promoting data interoperability and delivering clinical decision supports.

The Research Coordinator has the primary responsibility of coordinating a pilot and randomized clinical trial focused on use of AI tools to prepare for healthcare visits. This includes all aspects of participant recruitment, consent, enrollment and follow-up. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record for meeting rapid timelines, working with health team members and patients, and confidence within data systems.

Function/Duties of Position
  • Recruit and enroll patient participants: Recruit and screen potential participants, conduct electronic consent process, provide support to complete baseline and follow-up surveys; coordinate logistics related to clinic encounters, including provision of study materials, and follow-up to ensure complete data collection. For clinician participants: answer questions, conduct consent process, and manage study data and logistics.
  • Participate in weekly meetings to report progress using a structured format, work with study team to consistently update timelines and forecasting, identify and troubleshoot challenges rapidly; support dissemination efforts, including literature reviews, preparing materials, and reporting.
  • Monitor data quality within electronic data capture form, issue reminders and communicate with participants, generate and monitor reports, and issue and track study payments.
  • Within the mixed methods analysis, recruit and schedule participants selected for interviews, coordinate study activities and data exchange with the qualitative team, support management of qualitative study data. Within the quantitative data team, manage data files and provide support as requested.
  • Maintain IRB approvals, ensure adherence to study protocol, ensure reporting per IRB requirements, and coordinate with the IRB.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field AND
  • 1 year of relevant experience ORAssociate's AND3 years of relevant experience OR4 years of relevant experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in informatics, public health, social science, computer science, or related degree
  • Ability to create spreadsheets, data entry reports, and the ability to work with a diverse group of patients.
  • Experience with electronic health records, health IT apps, or AI tools a plus
  • SoCRA or ACRP certification
Additional Details
  • This position is based on campus. Work hours are 8am-5pm Monday-Friday with occasional evening work to meet project deadlines. Additional safety training will be required to work with patients and protected health information.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended hours, provide frequent phone support to study participants, and work in clinics. Ability to communicate complex ideas to study participants.
