What are Computer Science grads?
What is the difference between Computer Science Grad vs Software Developer?
| Aspect | Computer Science Grad | Software Developer |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Degree in Computer Science or related field | Often requires a degree, but certifications and experience can suffice |
| Work Environment | Academic settings, internships, entry-level roles | Corporate offices, tech companies, startups |
| Industry Usage | Educational institutions, entry-level tech roles | Product development, application building, coding tasks |
| Search & Comparison Intent | Entry-level, educational background, career start | Practical coding, project work, job opportunities |
While a Computer Science Grad typically refers to someone with a degree in computer science, a Software Developer is a professional actively involved in coding and building software applications. Many Computer Science Grads pursue roles as Software Developers, but the latter emphasizes practical skills and work experience. This variable part-time paid opportunity offers 12 to 24 hours per week. Our summer internship program is intended to promote diversity in the environmental, engineering, and planning fields by creating opportunities for students from groups historically under-represented in this business sector, including but not limited to those students who represent Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), as well as veterans, disabled individuals, and/or students who are first in their families to go to college.
