These positions often require knowledge of programming languages, problem-solving skills, and familiarity with tools like Java, Python, or SQL. Job opportunities are available across industries including technology, finance, healthcare, and government.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

High-paying roles such as software developers, sales managers, or freelance consultants can earn $10,000 or more per month without a formal degree, often relying on skills, experience, and certifications. Success in these roles typically depends on expertise, portfolio, or client base rather than formal education.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Computer Science Graduate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Computer Science Graduate, you need a solid understanding of programming languages, algorithms, data structures, and fundamental computer science concepts, typically gained through a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with development environments, version control systems like Git, and frameworks relevant to your specialization is often expected. Problem-solving, teamwork, and strong communication skills help you collaborate efficiently and adapt to evolving project requirements. These skills and qualities are crucial for building robust software solutions and succeeding in dynamic technology-driven workplaces.

What are Computer Science grads?

Computer Science grads are individuals who have completed a degree program in computer science, typically at the undergraduate or graduate level. They possess knowledge and skills in areas such as programming, algorithms, data structures, software engineering, and computer systems. These graduates are equipped to pursue careers in various tech fields including software development, data analysis, cybersecurity, and more. Their education often includes both theoretical foundations and practical experience with modern technologies.

What are some common entry-level positions for recent computer science graduates, and how do they typically collaborate within a team?

Recent computer science graduates often start in roles such as software engineer, QA analyst, IT support specialist, or junior web developer. In these positions, you'll usually work as part of a project team alongside more experienced engineers, designers, and sometimes product managers. Collaboration is key—you'll participate in code reviews, daily stand-up meetings, and pair programming sessions to learn best practices and contribute to shared goals. This team-oriented environment not only helps build technical skills but also offers mentorship opportunities and exposure to different aspects of software development.

What jobs can you get after computer science?

A computer science graduate can pursue roles such as software developer, data analyst, cybersecurity analyst, systems analyst, or network administrator. These positions often require knowledge of programming languages, problem-solving skills, and familiarity with tools like databases and operating systems.

Job description

About us
One team. Global challenges. Infinite opportunities. At Viasat, we're on a mission to deliver connections with the capacity to change the world. For more than 35 years, Viasat has helped shape how consumers, businesses, governments and militaries around the globe communicate. We're looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.
What you'll do
In this role, you will propose concepts to solve customer problems. You will develop the system along with our customers by bringing to bear technology assets across Viasat Government and our partners. The products and systems to be defined include V-Band Cross-links, V-Band Radar, Special Communications, Wideband Receivers, and Channelizer applications. You will develop the algorithms vital to solve a wide range of DSP challenges. You will build system solutions from your algorithms by supporting their development from simulations to instantiations on DSP/FPGA/GPU platforms.
The day-to-day
We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer to join our dynamic team in Tempe, AZ, to start as soon as possible!
The DSP work can be broken into three major development cycles that you will be responsible for:
  • Floating-point simulation (Matlab) - Starting with a customer challenge, you will research, then design, the DSP algorithms required to tackle that challenge,
  • Fixed-point modeling (Simulink) - Given the evidence provided from floating-point simulation, you will build a digital logic model that proves how logic blocks can process equivalent math within the constraints of the platform (when applicable).
  • Lab implementation support - From the fixed-point modeling, you will generate test vectors that must be matched by team members in the Digital group. You will support the Digital team's implementation and ultimately own the performance of the DSP algorithm as it is applied to the specific platform.

Additional Details:
  • This position is site-based. Site-based employees work 3+ days (60%+) per week from a Viasat office or work location within a standard five-day work week. While this means employees are mostly and consistently onsite, Viasat embraces a flexible work environment. Relocation assistance is available pending eligibility.
  • As an Early Career hire, you will participate in our Graduate Development Program during your first 12 months at Viasat. This program is designed to support your transition from university to the workplace through dedicated mentorship, building relationships with your cohort of new grad hires, technical upskilling, soft skills development and more to ensure you're set up for success as you begin your professional journey with Viasat.

What will help you on the job
  • Up to 3 years applied signal processing experience
  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SSBI/SCI
  • Demonstrated experience writing discrete-time simulations in Matlab, Simulink, C/C++, or Python
  • Demonstrated experience with architectural definition, design, and integration
  • Demonstrated experience in random processes, communication theory, and spectral analysis
