Job Description:
The Chicago Marriott O’Hare is looking for a Sales Manager to join our team! Previous Hotel Sales Manager experience strongly preferred.
Overview:
The Sales Manager will be responsible for managing group room blocks and meeting space for small to mid-sized assigned groups while supporting the team to achieve the overall success of the operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Complete the lead the sales process for assigned groups and effectively guide customers through their event experiences.
  • Maximize revenue opportunity for assigned customers by creating effective strategies for event revenue growth, including upsell and cross sell opportunities.
  • Drive results by soliciting and securing business through a proactive, consultative sales approach.
  • Identify solutions that meet customer goals and objectives, and utilize all available tools to ensure maximum event and revenue capture from assigned customer base.
  • Thoroughly research and understand customer history and previous experiences.
  • Understand event cost structure and incorporate into solution designs according to established profitability guidelines.
  • Coordinate and conduct site visits, attend pre-conference planning meetings, and other planning meetings, as necessary to support the customer event experience.
  • Effectively collaborate with vendors and other departments to capture and service events.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationship with key hotel personnel to enhance the overall business relationship with the hotel.
  • Identifies operational challenges associated with the group and determines how to best work with the team and customer to solve any challenges and/or develop alternative solutions.
  • Support company initiatives, business strategies and core values.
  • Strategic thinker, problem solver, multi-tasker, and an excellent communicator, both verbal and written.
  • Superb time management skills with the ability to prioritize a multitude of projects while staying organized.
  • Re Solicit feedback from the operations team to identify areas for improvement as needed to enhance the event experience.
  • Responds in a quick, timely, friendly, professional manner.
  • Reports to the Director of Sales amp; Marketing.
  • Performs other duties as requested by management.
Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years progressive experience in hotel sales management.
  • Marriott Hotels systems training such as CI/TY, MARSHA preferred.
  • Proficient computer software skills, preferably Word, Excel, PPT, Adobe, Google and Outlook
  • Knowledge of CVENT, Knowland and TravelClick applications a plus
  • Proven record of achieving goals and objectives
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
Availability:
  • Must be available to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
